I just saw Harry potter 3 and despite mixed reviews i thought it was pretty damn good. Best of the three. Ive heard a bunch of people saying dumb stuff like "oh that was crap it didnt follow the book at all" but think about it, if it did it wouldn't really be a good movie cause it would be too predictable!. Gives us something new but still follows the storyline in general
When someone said about it being crap to me afterwards i said "yeah well if you wanted the book you should read it but i came to see the film and it was a very good film" so don't judge the movie by it's book enjoy it as if you'd never read it

Cool - I wondered how that movie would turn out. Book 3 definitely marked a turning point in the series, and the trailers for the movie made it look like the best of the movies so far.

Well, the books are nearly perfect. And while admittedly they couldn't keep everything, sometimes the changes they make don't at all fit and change the aspect of the character. One complaint I've had with the movies is they don't develop the Weasley's and the comic relief they provide. Still, I enjoy the movies quite a bit anyway.

Hmmm. Kantes wouldnt be a major Harry Potter fan now, would she????
Ive never read the books, nor did I ever had the intention to do so. But I still went to see the first movie with my friends when it came out. I enjoyed it, and bought the dvd when it came out. Still havent read the books, but am starting to think about leaning in the direction of considering buying them. (Besides, I still have 4 or 5 Star Wars Books to read, which I havent)My only problem with the movies(not having read the books, mind you) Is that certain things are way too predictable. Dont know If JK wrote it that way, or the screenwriter adaption made it that way.

Well, the villain in the first book/movie is a good example of something that's wayyy too predictable. It's the same in both the book and the movie.

I'd buy the books. There are a number of things left out in the movies, and it does explain a larger amount of things you may not understand or might want to know more about. Moving can only put in so much, and they only cover the core stuff to get the point across. The books generally show the other aspect of things, about why the characters are the way they are, etc. Rather than just showing up in a movie and not understanding how they became that way.
What sucks is that this will either be the very last Harry Potter movie, or they may change the cast (if I remember right, they already sold Pivit Drive in England). So, this may be the last movie for good, or with the cast that's just beginning (and it shows) to get into their character. Honestly, as long as they don't look or seem too old, I wouldn't mind them playing in the other movies. So what if they're 14 or something? If they look the part, doesn't really matter. Look how many adult actors take on teenage roles sometimes.
It was indeed a good movie, better than before. Glad they made the director change, it was definetly worth it. Hope he, if they do end up making it, the fourth movie at least.

Shriden, they've already started production on Goblet of Fire, with the same cast. They have now signed the three main starts to star through the entirity of the series should they go for seven. As to Privit Drive, apparently the Dursleys have been cut from the script in Goblet of Fire, so it was not necessary at this point. Anyway, I don't think the actors age is really a big concern anymore. They are currently the age of the characters in Goblet of Fire, and it doesn't matter if they end up a few years older than their characters, once puberty is done you can play quite a few years younger.

From what I hear, all the three stars (Daniel Radcliffe [Harry], Rupert Grint [Ron], Emma Watson [Hermione]) have all already signed contracts to do the fourth movie (Goblet of Fire), of course taht all could be subject to change, but as it stands now, from what i hear, they are all sill going to be doing it. =)

I went and seen Harry Potter. I loved it as I am a fan of Gary Oldman. Though there were times during the movie I was just asking, why didn't they just save the Hypacrite and just catch the "thing" (not to spoil anything) to show them all the truth. Well if you seen the movie you might know what I am talking about

actually they had time, they had to wait for the right time the rest of it. So they had time. Because they sat there and waited for everything to happen.
Kantes
06-18-2004, 02:09 AM
They had to wait or them ministry of magic would have caught them when they got rid of buckbeak in the forest harry was already being attacked by dementors so peter was gone by this time

no I am talking about the time when he was waiting there waiting for "them" to come out of under the tree... they had time for sure... something could have been worked out.
Kantes
06-18-2004, 07:51 PM
what happened was they went back in time, they had to wait till the coast was clear to save the hypocrite, then they went and saw 'him' escape while the others were being attacked, they weren't allowed let themselves see each other that was the rule of time travel
Dakota-XE
06-18-2004, 08:36 PM
No I am not talking about then, I am talking about later on when they are watching themselves with the "3 guys" when they are fighting... they had time before that, they just sat there and waited for the time...
See you had it all mistaken.

It was old news when I heard it back then, so I would suspect it would change anyway.
As for the movie, my friends and I didn't like it as much as the past two. Reason being was there were a number of things missing from the movie, most scenes which were quite important to the plot itself, and much of which would've answered questions that needed answering in the movie before being able to go to the fourth. I was personally annoyed by the way the scenes kept fading in and out, the lack of a Quidditch game (and actual one, and mention of the fake Dementors by Malfoy & Gang - though not bothered by that as much). There were just several things missing, and it just seemed too simple instead of complexing and growing the story more like it should have been.
I understand a new director means new things, but there were just way too many things missing and stuff that never should have happened occuring anyway. Just a thought...

they made the movie more like kiddish ? Especialy the beginign you think your watching cat in the hat =/ or spykids. But after that it got pretty good. I just didnt like how they tried to appeal to little children more. I dont know thats my opinion./

I'd like to see it on Imax but yeah none around here.
Also they could have done that, it's not like they couldn't have made a scene based around that.
They go back in time, the mouse drops... they grab the mouse from the bushes to where it ran.. still have all the time in the world to do what they intended to do. Simple as that.
Also there you go Kantes, I posted for you, hard to find due the thread though.
