You could save a lot of cash by just building that pc then buying an alienware case and putting it in there but like you said if you've got the cash why not! nice setup man enjoy. I'm getting myself an alienware laptop soon enough, nothing too up to date but reliable

TeMpEsT

I'd rather buy an Alienware than build my own PC if I had the money, but I don't have the money so I'm building my shit.

I agree with Kantes but silent said he had money running out of his ears so it didn't matter.

Meh, my parents agreed to buy me an Alienware a while ago but I told them I would prefer to build my own PC. The Alienware he just bought could have been built for much, much less. I will never waste my money on buying a custom PC unless its a laptop (because I can't exactly build one, not yet at least).

Kenshin
06-01-2004, 03:52 AM
yeah I'd never waste money on a Alienware you can get a computer with the same components cheaper even if you don't build it yourself. Also Falcon-NW has much faster computers and are a tad bit cheaper but not much cheaper.

Well, we all know that I like to build my PCs. Nice specs bro, you should enjoy that. But that is some serious $$$.

I would've went for the Falcon-NW comps too, their customization options are just stunning. Yet again, Alienware's new project in operation will boast some of the same options that Falcon-NW are using.

Hey man, go for whatever floats your boat. It's just that my reasoning is as follows:

- You can take that $3,000 and instead of buying an Alienware, build your own PC, spending the exact same amount you would have on the Alienware. The difference is, for the same amount of money, you could get an EVEN MORE POWERFUL machine. In my mind, the more power, the better. :D

TeMpEsT

I probably would've went to a retailer like SD did, except I might've gone to Falcon-NW. I love Alienware's style of cases, and their new ALX (I think that's it) looks absolutely amazing.

Kantes
06-05-2004, 02:39 AM
You can buy their cases seperately.

Zzero
06-05-2004, 05:35 AM
Not the new ones. The older tower cases can be found everywhere, those aren't considered anything special nowadays though.

Kantes
06-05-2004, 09:39 PM
Nah i mean the new ones i can get em here anyways but there's an alienware factory 20 minutes away from me so that might be why. Plus i gots me some connections ;) i get all the parts discounted

well known of you im a certified computer technician blah blah blah.

Ive had alot of people go O YEA IM GETTING A ALIENWARE!!! The simple fact is they put all regular parts you can get for half the price and put them in a nice shiny case.

Its like buying a ati radeon 9800 xt for a RISC servers, just sorta useless.

Youve all chosen a bad time to get a new pc since PCI express is coming out soon and the new pins for the 64 bit amd procesors are coming out. So bad timing. Cantes put it quite nicely, you can just buy a alienware case or something nicer. I remember first time i saw a full tower alienware...it looks like a car and my girlfriend got scared and ran away LOL. I could build that machine for myself for around 2k.

SilentDeath
06-13-2004, 07:36 PM

yes thats true but Alienware and Falcon-NW both have spiffy software for tweaking thier hardware to perfection so even if you did make a more powerful pc at $3,000 than a $3,000 alienware the alienware will still out perform it.

My ex really ****ed my machine up when she would get on it and surf online. (She never used her machine, because she already ****ed it up).

Oh well, got some updates and now redoing it, plus a new girl (which I am really excited about). So all is good.

Yeah, if you remember the Accident thread a while back, then it explains a lot. She was an indirect cause of the dog bite and was nothing of a solution. Things got immediatly bad, and I could never live with someone like that. Blah, oh well, too much detail, blah blah. That was back in Feb

In the meantime I have been living up single life until I recently met this new girl, and I am really enjoying myself with her.

I have an alienware as some of you know, when I ordered mine it came in 5 days and they told me 2 to 4 weeks or something lot bigger.

Isnt FedEx nice?

I remember when it came I needed a 2nd person to carry the box because it was litterally bigger then my arm span. The case is huge I mean HUGE its nice though.

The thing I like is there is so much upgrading you can do. Hell now that I think about it I like this case so much I might use it again when I make a custom lol. When it came and I opened it up to make sure everything was peachy I was surprised about how nice all the wires were... they werent hangging everywhere but were all in nice little twisty ties.

Mines a year old now and runs like a champ.

EDIT: Oh yeah just a pointer.... When I first opened it I did not know there was a fan hooked to the door you open... beware it's hooked to wires so dont yank it out fast. As I did

Umm I thought XP got rid of all blue screens... I havent had one since XP... XP should restart automatically instead of blue screen.

I always wondered why sometimes out of nowhere my computer would shut off and restart when all I was doing was surfing the internet or something simple. (Happened to me mostly at School because them comps are ****ED up)

LavisBlade

The more I use XP the more I like it. It's like everything thats new, people tend to turn it into a outcast because they hate change.

Live with XP now... Live with Longhorn later... or be a queer and use linux :tapedmout

Kantes
06-25-2004, 02:37 AM
Firstly - Longhorn is nothing special yet, i have a beta version of it and personally i dont like it that much

Secondly - I dont dislike XP because its new, i like new things, i dislike it because it's crap, dont assume something like that it makes you look like an ass

LavisBlade
06-25-2004, 02:46 AM
What is so wrong with XP that it makes you shake at the site of it?

I honestly dont understand your reasoning other then an opinion, in which I dont agree.

Please dont stoop down low and call me an ass, seriously. We are tallking about OS's and you have to call me an ass for making an assumption?

Kantes
06-25-2004, 02:55 AM
read the wooord - assumption..ass..its a movie quote chill mate

I don't like XP because it spies on it's users, Microsoft can't do anything with the info though unless you give them permission to look into your pc in which case BAM they hit you where it hurts which for my is my uncountable amount of bootlegged programs.

It's basically childproofed, they rounded everything..why..the old design was fine just spruce it up a bit dont butcher it. I don't like how they restart if there's gonna be a potential bluescreen, sometimes you can get out of bluescreens well i know i can. It's nowhere near as reliable as the likes of 2000 was, i prefer 2000 or 98.

For me i don't like XP, call it an opinion, but then so is yours that XP is good, it's always a matter of opinion it depends what you like, i don't like XP, you do, i don't like it's features design or method of running, you do.. so don't try to put down what i say merely because it is an 'opinion' because yours is too

actually dude 64 bit doesn't run games faster it enables you to use more than 2 gigs of RAM. Look at Doom 3 for instance you can have fast ass 64 bit all you want but it won't help the framerate unless you have more RAM than a standard 32 processor can access. Thats why I'm not borthering at the moment to upgrade my processor i'm just getting a new video card for Doom3. Technically my 9600 Pro can run it good with hardly any slowdown but the better the card the better the game is. Doom3 even has stuff that you can run that current top of the line computers can't run.
