View Full Version : Fee or no Fee?

I think there going to be a fee in tflo because of the massive servers that the xbl fee won't cover. Im ok with an reasonable fee but nothing to high like 15 or 20 buxs a month.

Somewhere between $5-10 would be reasonable, hopefully closer to $5-8 since there is the Live fee on top of that that should be taken into account when comeing up with fees.
But other than that no problem with fees.

I don’t think there should be a fee, but if there is one, then it shouldn’t be more than 8$ a month since we already pay for live.

i will understand the there may be a monthly fee because the game will use servers that cost a lot of money to operate. I think a fee wthin 10 bones will be reasonable. any higher than that is pushing it, b/c of the xbox live annual and monthly fee.
It will be completely wrong for there to be a fee for this game. We are already paying 50 bucks a year, and for what? To play what we can play for free on ps2?

no mmorpg on the ps2 compares to tflo. Also this game will not even be coming out for ps2 because its soley meant for the xbox.

I don't really know much about the game but I watched a few videos and checked out a few screenshots. It looks tight as hell the detail in the environments is awesome.
But I probably won't buy it if there is a monthly fee.

Yea but if you have the fee then that means they’ll update it even more, get better servers, and it’ll keep out some annoying little kids.
Also comparing Xbox Live to anything PS2 can do online should be illegal.

It probably won't cost a monthly fee. The $ they get from buying the game, the $50 a year for XBL, and the Billions of dollars M$ has will probably be fine.

yeah. most likely Fiji is right about that if you pay 50 a year to power the massive server PCs I don't see why 50 wouldn't cover TFLO for at least a year.

yeah so did I thats why i wanted it so bad. I said long ago that "I'm so cheap that I will only play an MMORPG if its free" thats why I play UO on free shards (well use to anyway)

It makes sense that they would put in a monthly charge if they do, i mean, to keep an MMORPG running really does cost a lot of money. I would really hope they don't charge since Microsoft stated that if microsoft was the publisher of the game, then no additional costs would be charged for that game. But if this game turns out the way we're all hoping, it will definately be worth it!
Unlike PSO...

even if what we pay for xbox live is enough and even if Microsoft is a multi billion $money$ company they will still charge us just to make a little more. the richer you are the more richer you wanna be.

Microsoft stated that pso had a charge b/c sonic team wanted to to maintain there servers but yet sonic team stated that mircosoft had control of all the servers for psox. If MS would of took charge they wouldn't of charge for pso then but if they charge for tflo then you know ms lied and used sonic team as a scapegoat so they wouldn't be blamed on there commitent to only the live fee. So this will tell whether MS are liars or not :-)

In my opinion I wouldnt mind paying a fee every month. IF u ever played PSO u will understand what I am talking about. Now don't get me wrong its an alright game, but for $8.95 a month u really can do better than that. PSO is just old materal trasfered from the DreamCast version to the Xbox with no updated graphics and very very few"NEW QUESTS". So your better off paying for something that u will really want to play and enjoy.

WHO CARES!
God people act like they are poor and liveing on the streets.
IF YOU CANT GET 20$ (Sure 20$ is way over what it will be... probaly will be around 5-10 $ ill explain later :D) A MONTH THEN YOU ARE A SAD LAZY BASTARD AND SHOULDNT DESERVE TO PLAY THIS GAME.
EVERY! Site I've gone to with tflo forums some CHEAP guy gets on and says somthing like "If there is a fee I'm not playing it." and you know what i have to say to that? GOOD! I wont want to play with your lazy a$ anyway!
I mean comon I could go mow a guys yard for 15 mins and get a 20 easy. My sister on New Years, baby sat three kids for the night. Guess how much she got... 70$ ridiculous is all I have to say :P
h*ll if your really lazy ask for money for your birthday and use that pfft sure its sad but atleast you have the funds.
The problem I guess lays on the requirement of a credit card as a use for the monthly billing.
And I know by playing on live that most "teens/kids/whatever you are" dont have a credit card and this I can understand.
But think about it when you go up to your mom and tell her you'll need her card for a sec she'll give you a bad look (i would to) ,but tell her its only 5-10$ a month and she'll laugh because thats nothing compared to want most credit card bills and regular bills cost. (Taxes arent to cool either ).
Then pay your mom the 10$ a month like it will kill you. Most likely thing to happen is she'll use that 10$'s for somthing like food for your a$.
Now for the explaining of the payment priceing and why i think its 5-10$
This is a MARKET everyone wants a peice of the pie.
When a company like BestBuy goes and purchases games from Microsoft its at *WHOLESALE*
price. I'm not in the game selling business, but I've been to trade shows where candlemakers and fake christmas trees are shown. (Yeah its boring, but it cool to see all the ideas poeple have.)
Not sure what games go for but I've seen sculpture of a dog for 10.63$'s and in the stores they go for around 50-60$. (You know what I'm talking about its them figures made out of glass but they look like diamonds... this one dog was about 4 inchs high and 6 inchs long).
Now back to the games and what I'm trying to get at... when you see a price in a random store. That price has made 3 different profits.
1. The people that make it need a profit (Mostly China and Asian countries do this) they get very low wages though for makeing these but its still a profit.
2. The Company selling the item for *WHOLESALE* boosted the price for their share of profit.
3. The Final profit is of course the biggest of profit and thats what you see.
SO NO When somone says "Well Microsoft Gets 50$ for the game! Why do we have to pay a fee?" They dont get even close to 50$ is a fraction of that.
Everyone wants to make money!
So the monthly fees to me seem like the only way for Microsfot to get a firm income to keep things running smooth (Includeing the XBL Fee)
Now alot of these rpgs can vary in price from 10-14 $ so I'm guessing since we pay the LIVE fee which is 5$ (I think thats what it is now)
so 5-10$ seems fair to me.
Now lets think of this for a year lets start from to lowest I think they will go 5$
5x12=60$ a year which is a rip from the looks of this game hey look my sister could pay that with 10$ extra pfft sad.
10x12=120 This is where the price starts to get high but still 120 spread out the whole year is like nothing.
Its well worth the price if you enjoy the game. Plus it isnt like Microsoft has no reason for the charge. They have to buy brandwith and hire tech support and server ops all the time to keep the customer happy. It isnt like the charge is like a little extra money microsoft wants just because they want more profit :P.
You could look at it this way to... would you rather microsoft have you pay the fee for a whole year at once which would go for about 120$ plus u'd have to pay for the game 50$ I sure like the fees alot more how about you :D
SO FRANKLY QUIT YOUR BITCHIN! PAY THE FEES AND HAVE FUN!
PS I posted this in another forum and all the people were whineing so i got a little mad lol sry. Was in the xbox forums so they edited some of my words hehe.

I wasnt attempting to tell what the patch goes for i was intending to stop people from useing lame excuses for not paying. Everyone, well almost everyone should know why they pay monthly fees, but your right it wouldnt have hurt to add it, but that took me a long time to type and i wanted to finish lmao

LavisBlade I think that you only left out one thing from your arguement as far as how small the monthly fee will effect the majority of those playing TFLO. The monthly fee of TFLO goes into the upkeep of the servers and keeps the quality of the game up at its highest. So if there were no fee the game could get old quick and people would not enjoy it as much because the game would have a lot of problems. The fees keep the servers and the game enjoyable so that the people like us continue to play and have fun with the game.

I'll be swapping my PSO subscription costs straight over to TFLO when it's releasesd so I shouldn't even notice the costs. If a monthly fee is going to guarantee the servers stay in a good condition then I'm all for it.

True, TFLO is being designed from the ground up esp. for Xbox.
I will be willing to pay for TFLO only if it's worth it. Money doesn't bother me as long as I am getting my moneys worth. If they charged $20 a month to play, I wouldn't mind playing that as long as it worth it. Price is no concern to me. :)
as long as the price isn't exorbitantly high, I don't mind

OH NO I"M THE CHEAP GUY LAVISBLADE! well actually I would play it even if there was a fee but I don't have the $$ right now to pay monthly I can't get a job cause my car is broken and I live to far away from any store that would hire me (Ingles/Kroger/Publix) I can walk to gamestop but they won't hire me cause I don't have experience working :( man I need my car fixed so I can get a job and pay pimptastic games like TFLO.
As for mowing lawns I tried that I put out flyers nobody called. I hate my rich friends there like "why don't you buy a new car" and i'm like ok let me pull out the couple thousand in pocket change that I carry with me and my friend Geno goes "SHUT UP I ONLY HAVE 200 ON ME!"
well looking at MMORPGs they actually have to be worth it to pay monthly example: TFLO = Worth it Everquest = I wouldn't have somone pay me to play that game let alone pay to play it.

Like I said before, if it's worth the money then why not pay. There is no reason not to unless you don't have the extra money to begin with.

You can't, I already checked. Maybe it's a setting when you reach a certain amount of posts or he just asked someone who has the ability to change it such as a Mod/SuperMod/Admin.

Very nicely put Lavis.
I would be great if there wasn't a fee, but I have a feeling there will be. Most quality MMORPG's can't live up without a fee.

I doubt it will have a fee because one of the editers said PSO might be the only game you have to pay fees in
