Anyone else heard about this movie? I'm definetly going to go see it. I think it's time we had another movie that threatened out existance... again.
What's odd about it is the fact that alf of the stuff in the movie has already happened at least once before (not as widespread and ona vast scale like in te movie -- obviously movie magic), but did happen none the less.
What do you guys think? Could we face something like it in the future?

One thing I like about this Movie.
Made by the same Director of Independence Day, I love that movie. So hopefully this will follow a similar path.

Looks like a good show - a friend of mine said he saw a show on the Discovery channel about a year ago that talked about what would happen if a hurricane hit NYC. (Hurricane's the one that comes from the water, right?) They said that the tall, close buildings would act like a wind tunnel and actually accelerate the hurricane. Glass would shatter (of course) and fly everywhere in the hurricane, tearing stuff up.
Something about buildings falling over... but I don't remember why. Probably because the way the land forms, there's a funnel between Long Island and the city (if I'm remembering my geography right), where the show said that big waves coming in with the hurricane would turn into huge tidal wave monstrosities.
Between the wind and the water, the bridges would all be knocked out, and most folks would probably end up hiding underground to escape the wind, only to get drowned by the water when it showed up.
In all, they estimated some insane number of billions of dollars worth of damages, and literally millions of people dead...

I believe "The Day After Tomorrow" relates to a cataclysm resulting from global warming...associating the very real raising sea levels and the increased extreme storm activity that result from global warming...however these effects are naturally exhaggerated for effect. I too liked Independence Day so I think it looks interesting.

I like end of the world movies, too - did anyone ever see or read The Stand? It's a Stephen King book they made into a TV miniseries where most people in the world get killed off by a superflu. It's a great series and book, even though not too much gets blown up. ;)

Sounds like a case of Bubonic Plague of sorts...
I can't wait to see it nonetheless. I'm gonna go see Shrek 2 and The Day After Tomorrow, since they both come out the same weekend. It's going to be fun.
Heh... watch the world end while you watch the the world end in the movie.
Suck though... I know there's going to be some survivors all happy 'n stuff. Always that Hollywood ending. Oh yes, and can't forget that the guy gets the girl, too.

Tsunami is a tidal wave, Hurricane and Typhoon are identical only Hurricanes happen in the Atlantic Ocean while Typhoons form in the Pacific.

Looks good. But i'm getting kinda sick of seeing the exact same cities destroyed again and again and again and again. Like New York for one, it alway's the center of most desaster movies. Like independence day, deep impact, godzilla etc. I would like to see some Canadian cities. Or maybe PEI. Or entire island is at see level so it would be ****ed in a title wave. Though we have a total population of about 130,000 :p. Though we still have a bigger population then Nunavut, a territorie in Canada in case your ingnorant, which is more than a quature of the size of all of U.S.A with only 60,000 people in it!!!!!
That would be kinda funny if they used a Nunavut in a movie. a huge asteriod coming down causing a hugh city sized explosion in one of Nunavut's towns. Then news came on the screen. "Tragically, all 14 people of the towns population died in the asteriod impact today..."
