OK i dont know much about the actual mechanics of computers. THis is waht my neighbor wrote on a torn piece of paper after she inspected my computer. "need power supply (200 watt minimum) for windows xp w/ ATX motherboard w/2 input plugs (regular & 4 cable small sqare one" can someone translate that for me. And what would you suggest i get? Im not looking into going into hyperspace amazing computer technology here but it needs to still be good. I want to be able to play games like wc3 so no crap either. I have a compaq presario 6000

Well, if it's a Compaq you might want to check whether installing a new power supply will void your warranty or not. If Compaq doesn't mind, get a new power supply, I recommend a Ahanix (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=17-103-481&depa=1). 200 watts is pretty small so you might want to kick it up to at least a 300.

Are you sure its the power supply or just not enough fans to cool your system down.
Do you have a setting in your Bios to shutdown when you reach a specific temp.

you dont want it going too much past 145 F.... sounds like a fan issue.. orrrrrrr there may be some extra software running that you dont really need... system montors, etc... i've seen that kinda trip up things...
