Crazy gamer,
your first paintball gun should be cheap (like a rebel or a tippmann 98 custom, you really can't go wrong with a tippmann). Get yourself a mask, i have been playing paintball for nine years, only a dumbass would play paintball without it. (Get a v-force or a scott, if u have many get the dye mask).
well if you got series money, and want to destroy your friends get a vertical autocker, get a freak jr. barrel kit(it's about 100 dollars cheaper than a regular freak barrell and from experience they shoot the same, but other people got different opinions, and then eblade it.
that's wat i did, i got a outkast autocker and i ebladed it.

I wouldn't suggest that if your gonna go play in a designated field. Were I live they are not alowed cause you can't chrono them. 1 or 2 times with a rental then if you like the sport go get a good beginner weapon like a Parannah, Spyder, ProCarbine, or Tippmann 98.

@Smart ppl who are actually trying to help me
I went to the paintball store and the owner said I should prolly start with a tippman. Which confirms waht yall said. What upgrades should i buy? I want fast trigger, good range, accuracy, all taht good stuff. Can explain to me diff upgrades and what they do. Cuz theres words like valves and pumps taht confuse me. :o The people taht actually have paintball guns can yall explain to me waht ur gun is like. What upgrades u have, specs, brand? I want to get into paintballing i have about 150-200 dollars taht i can spend. Help me out plz. ;)
sniperbruce
12-27-2003, 05:49 AM
with a tippmann the only real upgrade u need is a 14inch barrell, but when u get some experience get an autocker (that's when all the reall upgrades are needed). and when upgrading tippmanns, brand doesn't matter as long as the brand is popular. i have three custom 98 and i only upgraded the barrel. double trigger upgrades are good too but they are meant for fast shooters. but i work on accuracy rather than speed, besides paint is expensive.

get the custom 98, it's cheap and it will last for years, and its a pretty good marker. i have a autocker since i used to be a tourney player, true they are expensive and a pain in the booty to get used to playing, but th ey are very accurate.
With custom 98 or any blowback marker u can shoot a target but never hit the bull eye from 25 yards.
An Autocker will infact hit the bulls eye from 25 yards, and u can turn them into a electronic marker. and electronic cocker will own like crazy and it is really easy to use. but only if u r really into the game, and have the money to do so.
but a custom 98 is a great marker for anybody
Kenshin
01-08-2004, 02:01 PM
My 98 hits the bullseye at 25 yards but its cause I upgraded and stuff. My gun has the pimptastic flatline barrel by tippmann, a star hyperion bolt so the CO2 hits the paintball more evenly so the gun fires for accuratly and a pimptastic expansion chamber. I want to chop the back part of the shrowed off of my flatline barrel so I can mount a rased sight so I can aim it easier and get a folding stock and a drop forward I hate my gas through stock and my drop backwards.

Most memorable moments:
D-day style- laying in really small ditch getting rained on with paintballs. I got hit on the top of the head like 4 times and my mask like 4 times. The thing that sucked was the paintballs didnt bust so it hurt when they bounced off.
Gigablap- My brother and a friend were unloading on this husky dude. And i had a WIDE OPEN SHOT from about 15 yards away. I was shooting him from the side for like 30 seconds and he never saw me!!!

How does gas thru grip work and waht does it do?
How does a regulator work and waht does it do?
How does a expansion chamber work and what does it do?
Kenshin
01-21-2004, 03:02 PM
Gas through grip is just a grip with some pipe going through it that hooks on were the expansion chamber goes so you have a place to grip it.
Regulator regulates how much nitro goes into the gun (dunno how it works)
Expansion chamber is a bigger chamber that lets the gas stay in the gun longer turning completely from CO2 liquid to CO2 gas.
SilentDeath
01-22-2004, 02:53 AM
regulator can replace an expansion chamber, and it works with Co2
Kenshin
01-22-2004, 02:43 PM
really? i don't know much about regulators.
Crazygamer
01-22-2004, 04:31 PM
Regulators regulate how much gas goes into the gun.
I think im gonna get an expansion chamber cuz it will help with co2 use and it will also give me a cool looking fore grip ^^ so gonna get a drop down too.

the thing on regulators:
In short a regulator regulates the pressure coming from the tank and gives the marker a specified amount of pressure. But there is SO much more to it than the short explanation. For a marker to operate properly and at a consistant velocity, it needs consistant pressure. You want consistant velocity because it saves hot gun penalties, helps with accuracy by maintaining the same arc towards the target, decreases the chances of a bounce, decreases those wild knuckle ball shots when the pressure spikes, and most importantly it increases safety! There are two factors a regulator uses to accomplish this: Recharge rate and Input:Output ratio.
Recharge rate means how fast the regulator can come back up to pressure after a shot. This is measured in milliseconds. The slower the recharge rate, the lower your BPS is going to be. A fast recharging regulator is a must for anything but the one or two shot snapshooter. Snap off 8 balls with a regulator that recharges slowly and you will be rolling balls out the barrel... sometimes they won't even go all the way out and you will double ball break inside the barrel. You don't want a regulator that is going to make you wait around, you want it to keep up with the marker and your ROF.
Input:Output ratio is the difference in pressure from the tank versus the pressure the regulator actually gives the marker. I will use the Stabilizer as an example. The Stab has one of the highest input:output ratios around at 70:1, the Fatty Stab has the highest at 92:1. This means that as the pressure fluctuates either up or down in the tank (especially CO2) it would take a 70psi change in the tank to register 1psi change inside the marker (92 for the Fatty). This is what makes the Stab the best reg out for CO2, because the CO2 can lose almost 600psi in just a few short shots. Without it, your marker will sputter and fail to recock. You don't have this fluctuation in HPA, it runs a constant output until the internal tank pressure drops below the output of the on-tank regulator (usually 850psi). Which is why you know it is time to get the tank filled when the gauge on the tank reads just below 1,000psi.
So why put a regulator on a marker that is running HPA? Because you want efficiency. The preset output pressure of the HPA tank already handles consistancy, but you waste a lot of gas. The way to conserve this gas is by putting a regulator on the marker and using it to turn down the pressure to the one your marker runs efficiently at (maintains maximum velocity with minimum pressure). And that takes us to LP.
The lower the efficient operating pressure, the lower you can run a tank before you need to fill it (or it gives you the ability to go through the pressure changes of CO2 without a hitch). Since you would be running lower pressures through the marker, you conserve gas. In essence you are doubling or tripling the shot:fill ratio of the tank with an LP setup and a consistant regulator. If the tank is putting out 850psi and the marker only needs 350psi to operate efficiently at maximum velocity, then you tune down with the regulator to the efficient operating pressure of the marker.
Making a marker LP isn't about dumping a lot of money into a marker to make it run better. It is about tuning the marker through modifications or aftermarket parts to remove the gas restrictions and make it run efficiently. All of the other things associated with an LP marker (quieter, conserves gas, doubles or triples the shot:fill ratio, lighter spring combinations letting you to pinch a ball instead of chop it, reduced recoil, etc) are all side effects of relieving the restrictions within the marker. The side effects are wonderful, but without a regulator, you can't get them.
Hope this clears some things up.
