Hi everyone
I’ve been reading this forum for a couple of weeks but it’s the first time i’ve posted. You all seem to be looking forward to TFLO as much as i am and most people here seem to have pretty good ideas about the game so i thought i would ask a couple of questions to see what your opinions might be. I say opinions as, although the release date is obviously getting nearer and near, there’s still not an awful lot of factual news out there.
So here goes...

A) How do you think occupations will work?
For example, how will the game mechanics of being a blacksmith work? Will it involve you doing something like dancing games or samba di Maraca? ie you follow set instructions that appear on-screen on your joy-pad or could it just be as simple as hitting one button and the game does the rest automaticaly? I hope it’s not the latter as that would be a bit boring. What do you think?

B) Where do weapons come from? And do you think there will be rare weapons?
Do you think weapons are ‘dropped’ by enemies when they die like in PSO for example? Or are weapons made by blacksmiths and sold in shops or traded? I’ve seen a character using a mace like weapon in a TFLO screenshot, What other weapons than the usual sword and axe do you think there will be?

C) Will you meet other players outside of your 10 man party out in the dungeons/countryside?
In articles that i’ve read it has stated that although there will be hundreds of players in each town at once, when you go on quests there will only be up to ten players in your party. Do you think your party will meet other groups ‘in field’ or will your party be the only group out there. If there are multiple groups in field at the same time, in theory there is nothing stopping groups teaming up so that would mean a group would be bigger than 10, hence i reckon cities will be the only place where you can meet up with multiple players then when you have recruited your party you will all ‘teleport’ somehow in to the countryside or dungeons for combat or fishing or whatever, what do you guys think?

D) How do you think combat will work?
I’ve read that combat will be a one button affair but do you think that means that actual moves will be out of your control like in KOTOR and you only control your characters movements during combat? Or will you have greater control on different moves maybe from a sub-menu system. Also will your whole party be attacking an enemy at the same time or will it be turn based with your move following your comrades?

E) Will TFLO be region specific?
Do you think the whole world will be playing on the same severs? Or do you think the Japanese will be only able to play with other Japan players, North Americans will only be able to play with other North Americans and Europeans will be on their own servers? I’m hoping it will be a worldwide experience because being English i’d like to play with other english speaking players from other countries, being only able to play with other Europeans won’t be much fun because there are loads of different languages in Europe so it basically means i’ll only be able to play with other English player. One of the joys of playing online for me is playing with Australians, New Zealanders, Americans and Canadians. The European servers on PSO for example have become ghettos with all the english in 1 lobby, the Spanish in another and the Germans in another, Gamecube PSO isn’t like that and is a much nicer experience for it.

So guys, what opinions do you have on the questions i’ve asked above?

thanks for the link, it's a really good website. But i was thinking more along the lines of what your opinions are, you know, get a bit of debate going. It would be interesting to hear what other people think.

For A.) I think you might hit a button and the game does the rest, but with more experience your player gets better at it. For B.)I think to get the weapons maybe a miner has to find the minerals and then he sells or trades it to a blacksmith who builds it.Then the blacksmith sells or trades it to a merchant to sell it.If that makes any sense. And to answer the region specific opinion.I think it will be region specific, because how we will understand what the Japanese are saying?Unless you know Japanese your screwed. These are just my thoughts, which are probably all wrong.

A) I'm going to say it will work somewhat like the Diablo 2 Cube. For those of you that dont know that thing would change a few items into another item. The only difference I would see is you'd have peices of stuff like iron and and a peice of lumber maybe rope .... depending on what you put together it would make any kind of thing.

B)I think that there will be both enemies and makers of weapons. As for uniques I dont think there will be certain unique to hunt for, but I do think there will be rare Stats that dont spawn on weapons very often makeing them I guess rare in the sense that the drop was random and not planned on.

C)Yes you will run into other parties doing different quests, messing around or even raceing to do the same quest your team is tring the achieve.

D)Kotor Combat system with a twist for the magic users (I think magic has to be chosen from a menu makeing it more menu based). The strongest character will attack first and the next strongest and so on. There is alot of debate on this one though.

E) Yes there will be different regions... it just makes sence. The only thing I could see happening though is Europe and Canada and US being linked, but I'm not counting on that anytime soon.

Personally I think that servers will be grouped by Time Zones.
