They came out with the amd fx-53 64 bit for like 850 i think or 750(sold out already) and the amd 2800 64 bit processor for 173 buxs. I might get it but i won't be able to afford it now. Now we could play 64 bit games in the future with affordable prices... thanks amd :-)

I had thought about jumping to the 64-bit bandwagon so early now, but if you think about it no 64-bit processor is being used to even 50% potential, and the sad thing is this will be true until Intel makes their consumer level 64-bit processor, so until then (like 5-7 years until it truely settles in) I will stick with 32.

well there are some (not alot) 64 bits games that are being develop or made. Also intel is making the terjas which has an unknown release but coming soon. Funny thing about this is that the terjas once release would cost around 1200-1500 range and probably have to buy a new mobo (Socket 754 or something esle.) It it said Tejas will increase in steady increments which appear to be 6GHz, 6.40GHz, 6.80GHz, 7.20GHz, 7.60GHz, 7GHz, 8.40GHz, 8.80GHz and topping out at 9.20GHz.
The Pentium V is likely to fly along at between 5GHz to 7GHz, have 2MB plus of level two cache, be built on a 90 nanometer process, and have a stackable design and a possiblity with a 64 bit).
The first Nehalem is supposed to appear at 9.60GHz before Intel succeeds in its goal to produce a 10GHz+ chip, the Nehalem, and using a 1200MHz front side bus. All of this (tejas probably late 2004) would release in the year 2005.
Did i get the intel peeps excited? The funny thing with this is that it would cost you about a minium of 1200 buxs and a maxium of 3-4000 buxs. Another funny thing is that it won't surprass the amd processing in gaming, and artist stuff like photoshop. Also amd will be more affordable for 32/64bit and each intel processer would need a different mobo for each with heavy prices. So would amd but not as much.

all of these OSs have -some- 64bit features but NONE fully use 64-bit processing, even Linux, OSX cant fully just yet, and this Windows XP 64bit version will just be like OSX (although probably not as good I suspect).

I was thinking about saving up and getting a 64 bit but John you make a really good point. Why not just wait a couple of years and get it? When they should be cheaper.
