Well, I don't really own an xbox, for many reasons, but I figured I'd enter into this fray for just a sec (the actual xbox-related threads, that is) since this game is on here and would most likely be the only place any of you have played it...
so, has anyone played the suffering? i'm trying to get people's opinions on it. i've not played it yet, but it's getting decent reviews (on both systems, despite what you might think, so please, no opinions on which version is better, just what you actually think of the game)...
so...hop to it.

I heard hey try to hard to make it scary, and its average, but SteveXE has a hard-on for it.

yeah. i've now heard that from a couple of people. mcbizzel has heard that it's supposed to be scary, but he has a big problem with liking games because of their graphics, so i don't trust him all that much. really, he looked BACK on the resident evil series and stated about how their graphics were bad and how he didn't understand how ANYONE could be scared by a game like that. well, b/c it's tension and suspense that makes it scary, not the graphics, you tool.
so i don't want to really trust him as far as any videogame goes until i get other opinions...
make steve post his opinion, then john, por favor.

well, i am a huge fan of all horror, fatal frame, silent hill or resident evil, so i'm just wondering if it's any good. i mean, i think the commercial itself looks like crap, but if i bought games based on commercials i'd never ever play ANYTHING on the gamecube. EVER.

Dude the game is nuts!!! they go crazy with the blood and gore! Its really cool! I like it! its silent hill done right! (didnt like silent hill, scary but not enough guns!) and the bosses are mad cool, the fact that you can get guards and prisners to go with you is cool to, tho they die after a while. The cut sceens are mad nuts! Its a cool game! Lighting is cool too!

The suffering is a really good game and like capt.obvious the cut sceens are mad.

Captain Obvious, a game with less guns is more scary. Do you think being able to kill all your enemies with super weapons, or being trapped and scared without nothing to do but find a way to run. Pick one. I think the second one would be more scary.

Yeah. Silent Hill is morbid, creepy, and eery. TS isn't. TS isn't SH done wrong. TS is not SH at all.

i ment that scarry sh** pops up and scares you and you have to kill it, and that you walk around from place to place and......kill stuff. and the fact that its fricken crazy monsters. really sick stuff. In a way it is Silent hill. not the way it works, but the stuff in it.

silent hills atmoshpere is really scary. the sounds, the lighting, all makes for a creepy experence. having big ass guns would of made silent hill boring and way to easy.

Damn it i dont care! i still like the suffering! and anyway!, having big, F**k off guns makes it more enjoyable for me! look at Resident Evil! you had at least 10 different guns, 3 were pistols the rest were two hand guns, i.e. big F**k off guns. like a granade launcher, Bazooka, Shotgun, flame thrower (my faviorite) and other cool stuff. I know if you got a 2 slot gun, that you would automaticly be dudcted a letter grade in the end, but damn it! it was fun! i like the suffering! it IS an action/horror game, but its, in some way, in my thought, silent hill done right! Now i understand what you mean by its not. I really do. But when i played silent hill 2, which i bought, it got borring real quick, and it was just crap to me. Im sorry but i didnt like it. It was too, well.....crap! Sorry! i understand if you think that im wrong, but that is what I think. :grumble:

i want to play this game now, but i don't know when i will. not anytime soon as i've got finals/term papers coming up and immediately thereafter i'm leaving for germany...maybe over the summer, though.
