View Full Version : "My First Halo Party"
Well, i'm just posting cuz this place is deserted.
I'm going to my very first Halo LAN party this coming monday, and was just curious about some of your "war stories".
I've heard of some pretty crazy stuff that goes down at these kinda parties. I'll post my own come tuesday!

I've been having Halo LAN parties every Friday for about a year and a half now so let me tell you some things I've picked up.
Watch out for people who like to screw around with the match starting time, or people who switch to the wrong team. Also remind people to only press A once to select their profile.
Always have at least 1 experienced player per xbox, so n00bs won't take to long getting set up.
Don't let everyone make a profile only elites should have their own profile. Everyone else needs to use Default or Inverted profiles. If they ask you what inverted means then you know they're a n00b.
Little Doves blue and red chocolate candies are useful for randomly determining teams. Put equal numbers in a paper bag and let players draw.
Always tell n00bs never shoot the guys with the green arrows over their heads. You'd be surprised how stupid people can be.
Make sure to have a decent spawn time. 5 Seconds is good. Do use spawn time increase, odd man out, kill bonus etc... It makes the game less fun for n00bs, and they won't want to play any more.
Radar should always be off.
The best weapon set up is Normal / Generic IMO. Also try out Invisible Sniper Rifles, and No Shield No Sniping.
CTF is the best for lots of people. Assault can be really fun since one entire team charges while the other team defends. KOTH and oddball are fun to. Race can be fun if you make a good match for it.
Death matches go by way to fast. They just degenerate into 1 big spawn raping competition anyways.
I have lots of strategy for 8 VS 8 Halo to, but I don't wanna give my secrets away incase we ever play you guys on XBL when Halo 2 comes out.

I would recommend you do Rockets as a "fun" LAN thing and do it in the smallest level possible. If you do Rockets with 12+ people it is NUTS you fire at anything because dead bodies flying in the air look like moving people, you fire any direction I guarantee you will hit someone, its like playing a poker game, it is all about luck, and no real skill is needed.
Also CTF is pretty hard with more then 8 people, 10-12 people you may go an hour without someone scoring unless you can organize your people well, and you usually cant. If you play like me and people I know play you may actually end up quitting because everyone is a pussy and doesnt want to try harder.
Also I caution you it gets very addictive and never tiring, I went for 8 hrs straight in a LAN party and had to go to work that day to, so be careful.
