Im getting a new pc in a couple of months. Off of ibuypower.com. Here are the specs (http://www.ibuypower.com/confirm/configurator-k7tb-ddr-333.htm) I have 277 bucks saved up. It should take 3 or 4 months to get 600 something. If it doesnt show the changes ive made to the computer just tell me and I will post them. It should say 583 bucks at the top if it shows the changes.

It only shows the default setup and price when you link these types of things. Might wanna post what specs the customized system you made was.

They have gotten some pretty decent reviews from magazines that I have read in the past. Its really all about customizing the PC. You need to make sure you pick the quality components instead of a lot of the preconfigured junk they put in.

Preconfigured junk? You mean the stuff Compaq, HP, Dell, Gateway, etc, etc put in?

Not necassarily, some of the companys that build custom PCs might feature generic cd-drives and memory and just things like that. Sometimes switching the memory brand can make a difference and different companys make different quality components. For example, switching to a better cd-drive may help so that he wont need to change it later. In my old PC the dvd-drive died because it was crap. I'm not saying that IBuyPower machines might necassarily come with lousy components, I'm just saying to check through everything before clicking the final "Purchase" button.
EDIT: Also, 8Ball, look again for the Serial-ATA drive, theres 2 at the bottom of the list. As for your configuration, looks fine, but might want to upgrade you video card. At least go for a GeForce FX 5200 or an ATI Radeon 9200.

I did it. I changed the hd and the video card to the ATI radeon 9200

Also if you have LAN why have a modem? Take that out it is money being wasted.

Cool PC. Sorry that you decided not to build and you got pre-config, but I am just a really really big fan of building (as you can tell). Still looks like a nice rig though. I think you will enjoy.
PS get broadband as quickly as possible :D

No dude I did build that. Well not by hand but I picked most of what is in it. Except for the sound and case.....sound really isnt that important to me.

A kickass comp. is nothing without broadband. So much potential locked inside that computer and none of it can be put to use on dial-up.

I am not sure, but I would be surprised if you can buy it a different way other than through credit.
Why dont you put the money in a checking account and use a debit to purchase the PC. Just at thought.

Just ask your parents to use their credit card for the parts you want to buy and give them your money. You can buy alot of neat stuff with 421 buxs on newegg.... My aim is below if you need my help.

JasonXE

amd... If you want me to explain then ask or IM me.

03-13-2004, 01:54 AM
Ok. I ask why? I thought the Intel Pentium 4 is faster.
LavisBlade
03-13-2004, 03:54 AM
AMD's clock faster then P4.
P4's can take more info in at a time opposed to AMD.
Choose AMD for gameing mostly.
P4 if your going to do some massive multi tasking.
Plus when the price difference is like 200$ it's kind of hard not to pick the AMD.

03-13-2004, 05:14 AM
200? What are you talking about dude lol? Its like 80 bucks different. Well when Im usually on the net I have winamp going, like 2 messengers going, and all that. Can the AMD handle that? If it cant....lol
SilentDeath
03-13-2004, 06:49 AM
8 ball i think you arnt thinking to hard...anway yes AMD can take that, when he ment multi tasking he ment like what 10-20 windows...lots of ****..since the frount side bus for in tell is so fast and all more informatiion and get there quickly

03-13-2004, 07:36 AM
****. I dont think I have ever had more then 10 windows going. So I will go with the AMD. If you dont need credit cards to order off Ibuypower. Please god NO CREDIT CARDS! lol. Do you guys think AMD owns Intel?
SilentDeath

These are 2 of the fastest CPU's on the market right now.
Intel® Pentium®4 3.2Ghz / 2MB Cache / 800Mhz FSB / Socket 478 / HyperThreading / Processor
Named the 3.2 Extreme HT
---$949.97
AMD Athlon™ 64 FX-51 / 1MB / 1600MHz FSB / Socket 940 / Processor
---$749.99
I think thats pretty damn close to $200's.
and this is what I have.
AMD Athlon™ XP3000+ / 512KB Cache / 333MHz FSB / Socket A / Barton Core / Processor
---$158.99
Very small compared to those other two, almost makes me cry. Nonetheless the price is much lower. To bad Athlon 64's wernt out when I got my CPU :*(.
If I were you I'd go for a Athlon 64 3000-3400 depending on how much you want to blow on a cpu.
