Since the new download content I became more interested in mechassult. Here are some of my opinions on the mechs.
Favorites:
Belial
Stats:
Class: Medium
Tonnage: 50
Speed: 35 mph
Weapons: Gauss guns, Pulse laser, crossbow missles
Campaign mode: Deals much more damage than light mechs. Keep your distance from enimes and save up on your ballistics ammo as your other guns won’t do you much good.
Multiplayer
Playing as: Snipe. Use your jet packs and speed to keep your distance from other mechs and deal damage from afar with your dual gauss guns. Hit and hide tatics and getting up u on protective hills are use full as well. Bonus- its not near as prone to over heating as other mechs so fire away!
Playing against: Try to sneek up on it, its gauss guns can deal alot of damage but it is vunarable up close as its gauss guns fire slowly and its other weapons aren’t up to par unless leveled up.
Catapult
Stats:
Class: Medium/heavy
Tonnage: 65
Speed: 25 mph
Weapons: Pulse Laser, Javelin Missiles
Jump jets, target jamming
Campaign mode: n/a unfortunatly
Multiplayer
Playing as: Its javelin missile pack is very power full and so is its quad pulse laser. It can deal alot of damage from a distance or from afar quickly. But it does overheat so I suggest attack from a distance with your long range missles. Target jamming is also very helpfull. But watch out for light mechs, espically kit fox’s, even though you have jump jets, the catapult is sluggish if attacked up close and javelin missles go clear over light mechs heads. So take them down from a distance.
Playing against: Unless your heavy mech or good with a light one, try not to attack it directly as it can deal alot of damage. Espically if your mech relies on tracking weapons as its target jamming makes them useless until its to late.
Uziel
Stats:
Class: Medium
Tonnage: 50
Speed: 35 mph
Weapons: PPC, Machine gun, crossbow missles
Chaff
Campaign mode: Like the Belial use hit and hide. PPC’s are slow moving and over heat so be sure to watch that.
Multiplayer
Playing as: I used this mech alot when I first started playing mech assult. Its great for newbs as its simple to use and often gets the last hit in to steal the kill. :) PPC’s work well from a distance in wide open area’s or up close. Small charges move faster than slow ones, but deal less damge. Use your jump jets to find a perch or just go in blasting if you want, though its amour wont take much so keep moving as it is pretty fast. Again, use hit and hide. Its machine guns are completely useless even if powered up. But its missles can deal some damage if level three. Needs support of other mechs though
Playing against: If their smart they’ll use hit and hide, if not its out in the open or the user is a idiot, or it is powered up. Becarefull facing it if it has level three PPC’s as it can deal alot of damage. It can over heat though, use it to your advantage.
Kit Fox
Stats:
Class: Light
Tonnage: 30
Speed: 40 mph
Weapons: Pulse Laser, Hammer Missles
Jump Jets, Null Signature
Campaign mode: n/a
Multiplayer
Playing as: Not only effective against heavy mechs but annoying as hell. If you don’t mind playing dirty use null sig do sneak in behind them and start sticking hammer missiles to their backs . Power up and let them go. If you become visable stand still (in a safe place!) for a couple seconds so you will disappear again. Besure to attack really close at all times. Heavy mechs are slow to turn and aim so you can run circles around them. Watch out for enemy support fire and your own team mates cross fire. So you should pick out mechs by themselves or distracted by something else. Don’t attack from a distance though. You should try to aim carefully as hammer missles work with direct hits. But splash damage works well to so aim at their feet if they are to fast.
Playing against: If your a heavy mech don’t let it get close!! Take it down as fast as you can and make sure to support team mates if they have one danceing around them. If your a medium or light mech its hammer missiles should be easier to doge its missiles.
Bowman
Stats:
Class: Medium/heavy
Tonnage: 65
Speed: 25mph
Weapons: Hammer missiles, Laser, machine gun
Jump Jets
Campaign mode: n/a
Multiplayer
Playing as: Only use in more cramped areas as they are useless out in the open. Get in close with heavy mechs and let the missiles go.
Playing against: Keep your distance from this mech as its hammer missiles can deal alot of damage
Mad Dog
Stats:
Class: Medium
Tonnage: 60
Speed: 30 mph
Weapons: Machine gun, Pulse laser, crossbow missiles
Campaign mode: n/a
Multiplayer
Playing as: Get up close to them and rip mechs apart with your close distance rapid fireing missiles. This mech is fairly powerful and can defend its self with out support. Watch out for over heating.
Playing against: Keep your distance from this dog as its crossbow missile pack is powerful only up close though. So try to take it down before it gets in your face.
Those are my favorite mechs. I think I wrote enough for now. I hope this helped some of you out!:p
