BG/NWN Series

Anyone play Baldur's Gate/TosC, Baldur's Gate II/SoA, Neverwinter Nights/SoU/HotU? I'm currently playing BG1 from the start.

I would be playing NWN, but Atari sucks and messed up the compatability with alot of peoples computers. Namely mine.

From a patch? Then don't update. From a plain install? Then try updating.

Neither works ever sinse I upgraded my vid card, and im not gona go back to the piece of crap I had just for this game. I can deal. PC gaming is overrated imo anyway.

Nope, it just runs at mabey 5 frames per sec.

Oh. What're your computer specs? And are all graphical options set to lowest?

Note that my comp sucks by most pc gamers standards, but it still serves me fine.

Processor: AMD Athlon, MMX, 3DNow, 1.1GHz
Memory: 512MB
DX: DirectX 9
Vid Card: RIVA TNT2 Model 64

I've turned everything on as low as it could go, both on the game and my comp. Ive tried syncing the game specs with my comp. Ive tried degrading my versions of everthing(drivers, directx), then updating. Nothing works. It worked fine before when I had a weaker motherboard and vid card, but even on that setup it eventualy stoped working(I thought it was because of a worm I had). I checked out the nwn tech support forum. Nothing worked, then some guy said it's Ataris fault because of their buggy anti piracy code. Some setups with AMD or NVIDIA simply wont work.

I used to have a tnt2 pro, I have 1.7ghz.. Are you sure you're using the latest detonators? A fresh install of NWN should work unless you have a newer revision

I've tried many times to reinstall and run with no updates. Whats a detonator? Driver for the vid card?

That's the latest drivers for that card on that OS. You've probably tried since then. However drivers are everything. Oh and be sure to install a noCD crack, that can sometimes help. (By the way, noCD cracks aren't illegal, it's just so you don't have to put the disc in the cd drive to run the game.)

lol, this solution was on the forums too. I think it's the only one I havnt tried yet. If it works, i'm gona cause myself serious pain.:confused:

Don't hit yourself too hard.. Drivers are everything, always. Some suck, some don't.

Do you play online?

Ehh.. I sometimes play online. I have all games, including HotU but my friend has my CD Key.

I've come to realize, the best expansion for the computer period is the internet.

Yea, now I gota get both the expansions. I know I said I didnt care, but nwn is my favorite pc game tied with diablo 2. =P

I had NWN from a friend but no CD keys for online play.. then when I finally buy the entire game set.. I never find myself wanting to play online.. Arrgh.. I guess I was more interested back then, but maybe it's the fact I don't like playing with strangers cause most use cheats. Maybe if I made friends who didn't then hmm.. it's just crazy enough to work.

Oh well, for now I need to play and Beat BG1 + TosC, then move right along to BG2 + SoA, then if I want I can play the entire Icewind Dale series but I'll probably move in for the kill and play NWN + SoU + HotU...

I'm alittle ashamed to say, I've never played BG2.

I only play in the persistant worlds online(anphillia or whatever it's called), but now ther servers require SoU or HotU. Gota pick em up later.
