I was in megagames.com and i read an article about xbox2 or whatever it will be called http://www.megagames.com/news/html/console/nextxboxlotsofhardwarebutnohd.shtml.
now i dont know if this really is true but i think microsoft is doing a huge mistake by not including a hardrive in it .We are going to end up using memory cards like the rest of the conlsole gaming world. so i hope that this doesnt happen cos if its true im switching...mostlikely:mad:

However Microsoft has told me the information on the HD and it WILL NOT come with a HD but you can buy one seperate, or they will make a combo pack. They aren't discontining it but rather making it an option (and there will be a lot). Interestingly, the HD will be worth it though as it will come with DVR options, and even a game and some demos.

Other info I know abou the Xbox 2 is it will launch in fall 2005--along with PS3 and will be called "xbox 2" not somethign stupid like Xbox Next. The launch, or within 3 months of launch will see games from Rareware, Team Ninja, Activision, EA, Konami, LucasArts, Bioware, Sigil Games (creating a MMOG for Xbox 2), Oddworld game, and tons more. Even better a complete overhaul of Xbox Live will launch the same day of Xbox 2, and all your current Xbox Live accounts can carry on to it! Another bad thing though is it -might- not play Xbox 2 games due to costs, but MS is still looking for ways around this. Also I have found out that RAM will be 256mb and no more to keep cost down, and besides more wont be needed.

A lot of people think MS is waiting to see what Sony will do--but not anymore than Sony is looking to see what MS will do. While MS checks out what Sony does, they are doing a lot on their own, and definately MS has a lot of huge tricks up their sleeves we aren't even expecting.

Interesting. I have not been keeping up with all the XB2 rumors, just who will be manufactoring what parts for it. I heard that the name will be XBox Next.

Sucks about the HDD, that was the big thing when the XBox released.

but the hard drive atracts more people to the xbox, and sets the xbox apart from the other consols, if they took it out in the xbox2, they would be taking out one of the major selling points, and that would make them loose money, so i doubt they will do that

I have a mem card with my box, but its only used to move info from my AR to the Box. I only use it to move updated rosters to my sports games. (I like them as real as possible)

Slimscane..the Xbox 2 not coming with a HD isnt a rumor it is FACT. I just told you that MS told me..and apparently a few months after I found that out the Mercury felt liek reporting it. Like I said before though, most of Mercury's info is right, except the RAM thing, RAM is fixed at 256ram for the Xbox 2.

Also the HD I am guessing will csot $60-100..hopefulyl $60 though.

I want a hard drive, too, but I'll buy one if I have to. The 256M of memory scares me more. Unless there is separate memore for a bunch of things - 256M for stuff like AI, another 256M for video, etc. - the Xbox 2 will be seriously lacking in memory.

I've heard recently that they're considering all kinds of things for standard PS3 components, including the EyeToy and a hard drive.

I also heard (maybe right here - too lazy to look right now) that the Xbox 2 hard drive will include things like DVR capabilities. That's cool stuff.

There has been many rumours going around about the specs of the Xbox2 - PS3's greatest competitor at the moment. It has all been speculation and hearsay until now. Team Xbox have confirmed information about the CPU which will run Microsoft's next-gen console.

It’ll be built on a 65-nanometer process, confirms the source. IBM has already taped out experimental samples at its East Fishkill lab, but it will take between 12 to 18 months for them to deliver commercial parts. Anyway, they’re way ahead of Intel.

This is an interesting twist to the story, as PS3's CPU - "The Cell", will also run on a 65 nanometer chip. We now know that Xbox2 has the strong potential to be able to match Sony's machine in terms of power, making for interesting viewing to see who will in fact come out on top.

Obviously power isn't the only thing; its how you use it too. The success of either machine depends on a multitude of factors such as performance, the games, its success in the online gaming arena, promotion at launch and even its looks. Right now nothing is certain - except that it's going to be a tough battle for both parties.

Also MS is takeing a very risky move on releaseing before PS3, which I do not like in anyway. Sega attempted this with Dreamcast and they crashed and burned. I've also read that MS will more then likely rethink there agressive move on the release date anyway.

On another note nintendo... yeah yeah it sucked, but they have something fishy going on...

I do want the Xbox 2 to have a hard drive. It may put a few extra pounds on the system like the one on the Xbox did, but that'd be okay, because it would save people money by not having to buy memory cards every time you ran out of space.

It would make sence if it didnt support a HD since the cost of the xbox2 would go up over that cap point of 300$ or MS would lose money like they are now with the current xbox.

But MS has shown that they arent scared to lose money just to rule the console market.

To me I think they are starting another monopoly... first computers, then consoles, then the food we eat, then they rule the world... AND BEYOND!

but really if MS really wants to sell anything they will include a HD or they would put something in the xbox 2 that exceeds PS3 by alot just not to include a HD.

And as for that 850$ price tag on the PS3 no god damn way I would pay that for a console. Unless of course if it has 10x the speed of my computer and I could use it as a computer... I dont see that happening... cause then well ITS A COMPUTER!

In truth I realy don't hope that they come out with an xbox2. If they do TFLO will go to none other than the XboX2!! I can't afford a new gaming system and if they do come out after XboX2 is realeased (and is not formadible for xbox) hten I'll basicly take a ****ing bullet to my ****ing brain!!!

I dont think they will release a game on a new system that doesnt use most of the power of the new Xbox2. Plus we are looking at Holiday 2006 (Microsoft was thinking about 2005 Holiday, but they trashed that idea.) for this stuff. If TFLO takes that long to come out, God have mercy on our souls.

Look at Evercrack - it's been out there forever and people still play it. Supposedly they're coming out with a sequel MMORPG (Eversmack? Everdust?), but it keeps not appearing. I'd say that if TFLO is successful, they'll probably make a sequel, but as you all say, it'll probably be a while before we see it.

Lets say TFLO is successful. Right around when the Xbox 2 comes out, they could port the game to the system, bring over all original content and then add new areas, items, character classes, etc. The one thing they would need to do is make sure that release the game when the console launches if there is going to be a monthly fee. Afterall, we pay a fee to play the game, not wait for it to be released. Hopefully some of you have actually understood what I'm saying, as I tend to suck at explaining things. :p

Chances are there won't be a sequel to it for a while if the game is successful. They will need to expand on the game at first such as EverQuest with its many, many expansions. Not sure how the expansions will work on the Xbox, maybe download to hard drive? EverQuest 2 is supposed to be coming out this year, and we will probably see a sequel to TFLO near the end of the Xbox 2's life or the begining of the Xbox 3's. But I dunno, thats just what I'm thinking.

Well I dunno, you can't just release a new TFLO game too quick. One point to MMORPGs is that you should be able to play them for several years before having to worry about sequels coming out. It allows the developers to build up their fan base as chances are there will be new people getting into the game every day.
