Mac has the fastest computer out there right now but i'd still stay with a windows pc because most software developers are programming for windows because most people have windows

a G5 is equivalent to a 64 bit FX procesor from AMD. What you say is very and untrue kenshin. Many art programs were first created for mac. Adobe photoshop for example, and the list can go on and on. John already talked to me on this subject. But i just wanted to post here for the hell of it. Panther and jaguar OSX dont really have any glitchs like any windows OS.

Windows is theory a weak program. It cannot handle a 64 bit program, but linux has been able to handle it from the start and i beleive OSX can as well. DOS was a extremely weak program even when bill gates bought it. Even now windows 2000 has a DOS emmulation. But i wont preach to you, so ill just finish with a end note.

G4 and G5s in whole are solid machines.

No byte swapping!!

And their OS is by far HCI superior.

But I am still sticking with my PC and Windows for now. It will take something big to move me.

If i could afford to buy a computer i definetly would get a mac...they are better for my style of computing needs(design and stuff like that)

actually exo I was speaking of games. Mac does have alot of games on them but windows seems to have more and are easier to find. At least were I live anway all they seem to have is windows games at every store in the area. If I were able to find games for macintosh were I live I would probly get a mac for its fast speed on the new G5 and its stability. As for art programs yes they were originally made for macintosh as macintosh is made mostly for art use which is why alot of recording arts, and animation places use them.

As for windows using 64bit processors there hasn't been a call for them untill recent when the A|MD 64 bit came out, and there still really isn't that much of a call for them in personal computers because we really dont' need that much ram for personal computer usage. They are estimating by 2008 we will actually have games that need that much. But, A 64 bit version of windows should be available soon if it hasn't come out already. As for DOS being weak it hardly was when it first came out it was amazing. But macintosh has always had the better system since they were the original designers of windows (bill gates copied it because steve jobs was to stupid to copyright it)

DOS being amazing?....Im a computer technician and networker
and i dable a bit in programing. Its a known FACT that DOS was a very weak program when it came out, and there IS a version of windows that supports 64 bit procesing its called windows server 2003.

you mean that person who takes that hard drive thing and spins it around on the floor. Then he starts to dance in slow motion while he beat his rivial in a superbowl fashion.

I don't think about them too much, but here's what I do know - Macs have always had better video and art software, and PCs always have a lot more games. I don't have much choice as to what I use at work (PCs), and it's always been easier to keep compatible machines at home, so I've never considered a Mac, although I've liked them just fine when I've used them.

what are the advantages and disadvantages of both?

actually microsoft won because they showed the source code to thier stolen OS and the kernal build was different enough for it not to be the same OS. (they probly went through and changed the variable names :D j/k j/k)

we watched a movie on it in programming class the other day because our school's network was down.

Well, I've only owned Apple computers during my life so I obviously like them.

personally I like macintosh's stability but over anything else i prefer a linux/unix machine or maybe even lindows, windows interface based of linux, which is now under a lawsuit from microsoft.

JohnXE

Lindows will probably get bought by MS and MS will make 10x more money off of it then the guy oculd of before..the guy was just ASKING for trouble, not only was he trying to make a Windows Linux, but he also posted a reward to make Xbox run Linux without modification.

Kenshin
02-23-2004, 02:19 AM
actually MS probly won't make cash off of the Lindows product because its open source buuuut they could easily start programming software for Lindows, and change the kernel so it runs windows and linux products.... wait then they would be able to sell it comerically once they changed the kernel. Oh man business law confuses me so.

JohnXE
02-26-2004, 05:49 AM
Well actually if they messed with it so much that it wasn't Linux..then they could sell it easy.
