View Full Version : Is anyone going to actually RP in this game?

I was wondering how many of you are eager and willing to RolePlay in TFLO. You know what I mean. Are you going to BE your character, treating the world as if it was reality, or are you going to take a relaxed stance at it, just playing it like a game and mocking people who play in character?

I think this RPG would greatly benefit from people RPing as it seems to be specifically designed for this purpose.

So, what are you going to do?

If I dont treat this game like a reality then it will of course not be as fun and when I'm boring I make others bored, but also haveing a character in the vast world that doesnt socialize with others would mean nothing to anyone and who wants to be thought of as a nothing? So almost they force you to band together with others even if you dont want to, which in turns gives you a better gameplay in the long run.

Now when you treat the game as somthing like a chore then why are you playing? I asked myself this question when I used to play Diablo 2 online Magic Finding items day in and day out... I began to wonder, "Who really cares if I'm not as good as that other guy anyway? NO ONE." So basically if you do somthing that isnt enjoyable, yet your doing it so you can be better... Dont do it lol. But if you enjoy becomeing stronger go right ahead, but you'll miss the whole REALITY of the game.

Sure I'll treat it like its real... if I don't then questing / haveing a job would be a chore and not enjoyable.

Now for the people that get online just for the sole purpose to bash other players that are enjoying themselves is a total waste of time and not to mention most people wont care about what you say or you'll just get put on their "list" with all the other Assholes.

So Yes I'll Play It Like It's Real.

How else would I want to play? No other way.

I agree. It'd be extremly boring having to just sit there chopping trees for hours upon hours, where in it's place you could be an assasin and get hired for a job where you have to assasinate some high level person who's giving slimscane a problem in his resturaunt. You'd just go along, stealthily following them, etc...

I wouldnt play this if it just became another hack - and - slash game because all you end up doing is trying to level till the top usually in some cases you might not but in most cases you will.

Well of course, I would have to chat about the political debate of the moment - Or how very much Thursdays annoy me.

But when out on a quest - I shall rip the heart out of the first person who uses the following words:
Ye
Thee
Olde
Shoppe
Hither
Thou
Or for that matter, any other Archaic English words. Not only does it show your incapacity to display knowledge of Shakesperian works, but it also shows you have no idea of what happened during the middle ages and onwards.

Heart-ripping aside, I'm very excited about this game. The idea of hopping on a camel to go to the pub is leaving me very anxious indeed...

...Which leads me to the next controversial question surrounding TFLO: "Will I be able to forge my own Beer? And after a few pints, will I get so drunk that I cannot walk?"

LavisBlade

LMAO would be a funny add on... There are Bars in the Trailers so it would seem that you could get drunk... Maybe they would reverse your controls? Who knows.

I mean if Chocolate makes you Fat why wouldnt Beer make you Drunk?

Ye art an arrogant fool if thine ways are to rip out the hearts of all whom speak in mine tongue, there be no reason to do such a thing. And for thee who wish to lessen thine hunger, hither, you all shall be welcome at Slimscanes olde food shoppe methinks.

Curses, my threat hasn't worked. Looks like I'll have to resort to making up words.
Phantaclysmic.

Ridiculous words aside, I'm hoping an actual economy might be able to form in this game...Many other games could have done it, but they usually got ruined by hacking.

Quoted from a guy called SPON
Ridiculous words aside, I'm hoping an actual economy might be able to form in this game...Many other games could have done it, but they usually got ruined by hacking.

Ive talked in another thread about this...

The main answer I got was that since this game is only Online it's impossible to hack with Action Replay and with a Modded Xbox.
Action Reply only works for Single Player and if you log onto XBL with a modded xbox (That wasn't unplugged) you'll get a error message about how you cannot log on with your xbox blah blah.

This of course doesnt mean that there wont be some nerd out there and finds a way to hack online, but as of now it's immpossible.

You can check the other thread

Oh, does TFLO save certain aspects of your character server side? That would certainly be a step in the right direction.

LavisBlade
01-24-2004, 07:49 PM
Yes they save your Character information on the servers. So when a person logs on with somthing they didn't have before they terminate it. (or maybe they will not allow the guy to log on?).

Spon

Excellent. That means that duping and hacking weapons simply cannot happen unless someone gets control of the server. Which is very unlikely.

TFLO looks more promising by the day. :)

LavisBlade
01-24-2004, 09:20 PM
The only problem with this is if some big community of people somehow dupe and get access to the server with all the hacked items then the server trying to delete them will more then likely shutdown or lag ALOT, but i guess thats a small price to pay against cheaters...

Cept in TFLO it will be really hard to even dupe since you can't turn on TFLO without being on LIVE.

Excuse my stupidity but since the servers save ur process then does that mean it does it during the online play or only when u quit...cos i just wanna know if ill loose all my weapons like i did several times in PSO when it crashed(sorry sam...ill make it up to you)

LavisBlade
01-24-2004, 09:30 PM
Its Probaly after you save... Only way to counter that is if they have auto saves during play.

Also note this...

The Server is never supposed to go down... It is supposed to be up 24/7.

Think of it this way, you don't have to be a hard core role player to enjoy TFLO, but instead just think of this game as a way to escape your normal boring life and live in a world of fantasy. The fun and exciting way you wish ur life should be. ;-)
