Wondered what comments everyone might have on third-party controllers. I have a Mad Catz Microcon and really like it - except for the Macro button. I hit it instead of Start sometimes and it really messes me up.

I keep seeing this controller at Best Buy that is supposedly for FPSs. It has the axby buttons down on the handles - see pic below - so that you can hit all of the buttons without taking your thumbs off of the analog sticks. Anyone ever tried this one?

Finally, thought I'd mention that I saw a wireless dance pad for DDR at the game store the other day. The cool thing about it is that it comes with a headset extension cord - I think they said it takes the cord up to 10 feet. That's helpful if you're trying to use any wireless controller, since they all have the ports for the headset in the base that's attached to the Xbox.

I have not used any 3rd party controlers. They seem to get mixed review. Plus I really like the original XBox controlers (the big ones). They just fit so comfortable in my hands.

I have one of those AirFlo controllers and it's just 100% crap. I got it for a gift, so I'm not going to throw it out. I dropped it on the ground once shortly after I bought it and the rubber casing came off the vent holes.

I actually like the smaller controller for some games and the bigger one for a few. Crazy Taxi is less painful, for example, with the big controller.

I like the big controller for FPS and everything else, while the S controller for fighting games or RPGs.
Don't know why...

I keep seeing an adaptor at the store that lets you use a PS2 controller on a GC or Xbox. Why? I'd rather use my Xbox controller on my PS2... They'd have to map L2 and R2 to Black and White, but that's ok.

I want to get the XBox to PC USB adaptor. Much better controler than my sidewinder.

You know where to get it? I've seen it online and can post a link if you need one.

Yeah, I have a bookmark at home. I just have not found the need for it yet. The games that I would use a controler pad for I already play on the XBox.

This months OXM reviewed that controler, and they said that it pretty much does what it says it will, they gave it an 8.9

no problem, i will acually go get the magazine (now that i have the time) and type up the pros and cons they put! (goes and gets magazine)
Pros: Does what it claims to
Cons: Not the prettiest stick around
also this might be helpfull, it is the las paragraph:
Does it live up to it's promise as an FPS tonic? In short yes, and it preforms reasonably well in other genres too. Give it a try if pointing, looking, shooting are the holy (but often unmanageable) trinity of your playing experience.
I hope that sheds some more light, the whole article has alot more info, but if you want that you are going to have to pick up the magazine for yourself, because i'm not going to type all that!:D You guys might want to pick up the magazine anyway though, because the demo disk has a whole bunch of sweet movies... including an all new documentery on Halo, and it shows some brand new footage and has a whole bunch of interviews with the bungie team... it's awsome!

um well idk i wanted to get a mad catz one for the grip because usally im playing UC(unreal championship) and after 6 or 7 hrs my hands start to sweat

yea 6 or 7 hrs straight lol

and the rubber on the mad catz seems to be an answer since i can just stop playing in the middle of a clan match and go wipe my hands or wash them idk personally i dont like the s-type control id rather play with the big ones im just so use to having the black and white buttons up top instead of to the side. and i frequently use them in UC so it would be wierd

Have you used the Air Flow controlers? People with sweaty palms seem to like them. I played on one once at a EA Games demo. It was neat, but I still have love for my original controlers.
