Does anyone really know how the weapons are going to work like...

If their are magical items that look different from normal items, or if there are no items at all with magical (elemental) powers, but just really rare normal items.

Also what kind of grades of weapons will there be like:
Swords (thats a given one)
Bows (I heard someone saw somthing about them)

but what about like

Axes
Spears
Hammers
Crossbows
Daggers
Staffs
etc

I would imagine most of the things you mentioned will be in the game, but unfortunately that's just speculation as they haven't really released much information about the weapons and such...

I've heard that you can create the ultimate weapon as a blacksmith so I'm going to have to befriend one asap when I get online!

shields shields those are the best way to go i mean stunning and blocking also insterments (if posible) and bows will be awesome

Hope they handle magic weapon drops in a good way. In Dark Age of Camelot ( I make alot of referances to this because its the only MMORPG experiance I have ) every character is running around with a sword/axe/mace that has a partical effect - IT glows or is on fire ect . . . ( you get things called diamond seals in 1 of the dungeons and you can BUY a magical FLAMING SWORD with the seals! This ruins the effect of having a nice magical sword if every person you see is running around the country side with a FLAMING SWORD. Also they have messed up further by making player craft weapons better than drops from killing mobs! So now you have the problem of people slaying a DRAGON and a magical flaming sword drops and no 1 would even want it because the stats on it don,t compare to player crafted stuff! Its easy to mess up the balance - you still want people to be excited when a mob drops a item and crafters have to have thier place as well - its a fine line. Maybe soon we will get some news on weapons and how common magical stuff it but I am confident that the Level5 guys are going to do it right! ;)

you still have to give daoc credit for being the only mmorpg besides this realy worth talking about if only tflo would get the amount of races and classes daoc has. but tflo does have more costomize stuff which is realy cool.

I saw a pic of some kind of fire spell that surrounded the enemy with a lil firewall but i forgot the site. I think it was a german site... I'll look for it later.

I'm not sure how the weapon system is going to work but I too have hopes for the way that its going to be set up. I hope that some weapons have special skills on them as in the same type of way that it was on PSO or the magic enhancements of Diablo. But from what I have read I do not know anything about enhanced weapons but I think I remember something about rare materials that can be used by blacksmiths to create unique weapons. So I'm not completely sure about the weapons but rare weapons are one of the things that i really enjoy in games. Maybe it will be like Dark Cloud's weapon building since this is a Level-5 game. I would rather have it different than Dark Cloud as I want a variety of rare weapons like PSO.
