(The following is just looking for people's opinions on the matter, I still plan on getting TFLO when it comes out ;) )
How does everyone else think Final Fantasy XI (http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=280689), release March 2003, will affect TFLO...
Other than Everquest Online Adventures there aren't really any console MMORPGs and with the release of FFXI in the states it will leave the Xbox with 0 and PS2 with 2...
Surprisingly I don't think the $99 price tag will hurt as much as people would think since if you're buying a new xbox then to get TFLO you would have to pay $49.99 (maybe $39.99) for TFLO and $69.99 for a live kit... on top of that people that are willing to pay the monthly fee to play the game most likely don't have a problem forking over the $99.99 for the game + HD...
Did MS/Level-5 miss their opportunity to steal away some PS2 players by dawdling with TFLO?

FF XI would be a threat to TFLO if it didn't suck so badly. No one plays Everquest on PS2, and no one will play FF XI on PS2.
The 99$ tag will hurt, because the overwhelming majority of FF fans are 14 year old girls. They don't have that kind of money. Everyone else who has broadband, the ability to pay, and is a FF fan, plays the PC version, and will be bored of it by the time the PS2 version comes out.
FF XI sucks, everyone should just leave it alone, and let it die in peace.
XBL already has a good base of players with access to a credit card, so TFLO will certainly do better than FF XI. Really, I was surprised when I first saw these types of topics showing up. I think FF XI has a lot more to fear from TFLO, than TFLO has to fear from FF XI.

1: Graphics not so impressive any more (Graphics don't bother me to much though)
2: Doesn't get remotely fun until you play for a very long time
3: Not a very diverse population. (Most people are the same things.)
4: Japanese players have the advantage over US ones item/money/level-wise (Additionally 50% of the players don't speak English)
5: Laggy in big battles (Framerate drops)
6: They charge you extra for every character you make, beyond the first.
7:It's old
8:Bad combat system. (No PvP, and it's very boring to watch)
9: Basically it's just an Everquest ripoff with chocobos, and some other things thrown in for effect.
10: No playing with your friends, you start in a random server, you can buy items to switch server, but they're expensive especially for new players
11: No Exp bonus for parties, plus it's very hard to level up
12: 80% of all players are idiot FF fanboys, and fangirls. (I guess that's an opinion...)

Dang, is FF XI on the PC really that bad? I'm not one of those crazy fans of Final Fanrasy but I have always liked the Final Fantasy Series. I have been having my doubts on getting the online only PS2 Final Fantasy XI because I think that it would be weird for the Final Fantasy to be online. I'm still considering purchasing it and the proce does not matter that much as I am one of those people that buy systems for a specific game (I bought XBox for TFLO and Gamecube mostly for PSO and Zelda). Hope it is a good game but TFLO shouldn't have a hard time. The only thing is that most people know about Final Fantasy and not that many know about TFLO.

!!!! TFLO WILL BE FIRST PRYORITY!!!!
FFXI WILL NOT COMPARE WITH TFLO!
