XBOX freezing?

I spent the night at my friends house, shortly after Christmas, to check out the new games he got. He's been telling me horrifying stories of his XBOX freezing daily. I went over, started to play some Rising Sun, and into the 3 mission the game froze. No big deal, turned it off, ejected the disc, and put in Counter-Strike (my game, but he wanted to see the port PC difference). As soon as he entered a bot game, it froze. No tampering with menus, loading screens were normal as to mine. So, he turned off his XBOX and called 1-800-4XBOX (that it?) to check it out.

After about 15-20 minutes in conversation with the guy, he found out that something had to do with a "corrupt files." Sometimes, if your XBOX has interference (DVD kit in port, more than 2 used controllers) that it will save the file with an error attached to it(standard Microsoft problem, something like a registery error), and causes the XBOX to freeze. It turns out that it was his DVD remote kit, which he always leave in his XBOX (as do I, but I have no problem with it). I don't fully understand the problem, but he simply deleted all files he saved that day to get rid of the problem. We had a LAN party the following day with no further problems.

Has this happened to anyone else? Just wondering.

Well, no, personally because we never leave more than 3 controllers in the XBox

Thanks Temp! My xbox freezes daily too. So Ill try it. I always have the DVD kit in it and 2 controllers. But wont you have to delete all your music and save game files?

Only the ones when your XBOX originally started to freeze on, or whichever game you first noticed it would freeze on AND every game you've played since. It's best to treat this before you play more games on it.

this used to happen to me on my old xbox, at first i was just deleting the files. that worked for like a couple of months then it kept happening again, then i took it apat the shell and dusted it. that's all i do.

Hmm... seems to be... wolfenstein.... is when mine first started freezing.. maybe if i deleted that... HMMMMM.... that would be nice.

My xbox use to freeze all the time then i moved it off the carpet and put it on some wire shelves that vent underneath and they never freeze (well of course it doesn't now but when it was working it didn't freeze)

Should I delete all my files off my xbox or just buy a new one guys?

It'd be best to delete them all. Even saving them to a memory card wouldn't de-corrupt the files. Sorry.

Same here..I get it on Warehouse..But it doesnt stay frozen permanently for me.I can hear my team still talking and after like 5-10 seconds it gets fixed.I do leave my DVD kit in though.So I will start taking it out when I am done.Thanks for the heads up Temp.

I tok Taikwondo for a few years my friend took Choi Kwando and I'm like wtf he's like its Taikwondo only it doesn't hurt your joints and he was a black belt in it and I would his ass cause he wouldn't extend his arms fully cause he said he was taught not to because it would hurt his joints.
