Lan tournament Sponsorship

This is basically a post asking does anyone around here know any website or company they have contacts with that would sponsor a Lan tournament in exchange for some advertising. We're not asking for anything huge just some prizes. So far we have gotten an Xbox as first prize :-)

Anything would be appreciated, anyone know anyone who might?

My school hosted a game lan tournament, not sure who they got as sponsors. I think they formed a small gaming club and fundrased money etc.

Unfortuanatly my school is an all girls school and i don't know anyone there who actually plays pc games. We considered a gamers club but the place we're doing the thing at said no for money reasons

Ouch, sorry to hear that. I will keep my ears open. Maybe if a game retailer or a studio/producer if they are local?

Well it was from a game retailer that we got the Xbox. We asked for a discount on some games, he gave us an xbox, it all worked out :-). Unfortuanatly the only other connections are with a guy working in microsoft who i doubt will get us stuff and a women in Alienware and then only stuff we can get from there is mugs and tshirts. We're offering a good advertising deal though

You know, I have seen a lot of women gamers clubs online, maybe one nearby would like to support your tourney or even make a chapter or something in your location.

Maybe in north carolina but i doubt here. I don't actually know any pc gamers that are female lol. Like none it's amazing. Obviously there are quite a few but none that i know. It's not just me anyways, a friend of mine (male) is setting it up with me and it's not just for women. The bigger the turnout the more we make and the better the prizes get as we go on. We'll be advertising around my county so hopefully we'll get a good reply, i haven't seen any other tournaments and for €7.50 per round it can't be too much to ask.

omg all girls school? *fantasizes* anyway. If you guys are really good im sure you can find someone to host it like Nvidia. but like i said you have to be really good

We don't need a host we just need prizes. We have a place with 8 machines all networked and we're gonna spread it over a good few weeks but not many are gonna come without the promise of good prizes. And yes all girls school good for you bad for me ;-)

Yeah, my college was located right inbetween two all female colleges. My college over all was about 50/50 in ratio, but in the college of engineering it was major males.

So while in the classroom it was a total sausage-fest, but out of the class, it was fun.

dude my friends were planning on hsoting a LAN party and getting Alienware to sponsor since they do that alot, and we hvae more than 100 people in joining and willing to pay $$ to pay.

Ya we have connections in Alienware so hopefully they'll be as kind to us as they were to you we're a little less on the people we have 63 for the Unreal Deathmatch and around the same for the Team battles but since we're limited to 7 computers at a time we have to space it out over a good few weeks
