I'm mormon, so I said Christianity. Usually when I hear people talk about Christian churches, they just mean protestant, but we follow Christ, so I'm saying we're Christians.

I was Lutheran until "God" screwed me over in the middle of my confirmation. I was sitting there on my knees, about to give my life to "God", when I had a seizure and was hospitalized for 3 weeks. Yep, that's losing my religion.

hey man if he goes go give his body to god and church and has a siezure i think god might be telling something.
Did he ever stop to thank God he lived through the seizure? Do not shun what you may not understand... I am Christian.
TeMpEsT
12-19-2003, 12:23 AM
Yeah, I did thank God for letting me live. Then I went back to church, and every feeling that I had towards God left me. I could never go back into that building without dragging my heels, nor could I keep my head up. I tried to forgive him, but how can I forgive him when my entire soul doesn't believe "he" exists?
I told you I didn't want to get into it...
My bad, I'll let it drop. :) Best of luck.
I'm Episcopalian, that's like a liberal Christian. I hate how people assume you're blind if you mention religion, it doesn't necessarily follow.

I believe in religion, I believe in God, I believe in an all-powerful force, I believe the religious go to an eternal resting place (Heaven or Hell, in your terms), and I don't believe that mankind popped out of a proverbial soup. I just don't believe in the Christian God.

A wise man once said "And now as I said concerning faith—faith is not to have a perfect knowledge of things; therefore if ye have faith ye hope for things which are not seen, which are true."
I have to disagree with you, True. As Kenshin says, just believing in something does not make it true. All we can do is have faith in the things we believe to be true. Faith does have power - the mind is a powerful tool - but having faith in something does not automatically make that thing true.
Not to contradict myself, but there are times when believing something can change something to be true, such as when you believe in a person. If you believe that a person is good/smart/stupid/whatever, the way you act toward that person can help them change so that they are the person you believe them to be. This, of course, is one of the reasons that prejudices are so dangerous - if enough people believe that a person is going to do certain things or act certain ways because of their skin color, religion, etc., it will change people's actual behavior.

I got some great stuff about christianity
Who chose God? why is it God? where did God come from?
If God is all forgiving why is Satan in hell
I was christian once. Then i read the bible
Here's something for all you religious people - Leviticus 20:13
For those who dont have a bible, ill quote it for you "if a man has sexual relations with another man, they have done a disgusting thing and both shall be put to death, they are responsible for their own deaths"
He also hates cross dressers "A man shall not wear womens clothing, and women shall not wear mens clothing, God HATES those who do so"
Oh an watch out those who get drunk, the proverbs condemn you "When you are drunk you are foolish, it is stupid to get drunk"
Who knew the bible said stupid!

"YOUR A NAUGHTY CHILD AND THATS PURE CONCENTRATED EVIL COMING FROM BEHIND YOU" -The Family Guy-
Just something from when he was pottey training stewy and he said he was catholic.
But anyway I'm Alvian we worship alvis (hope somone saw that sealab 2021) Alvians get drunk and wasted on christmas

Hey, now - I know you're new around here, but we've managed to keep this thread blissfully free of belief-bashing until this point. In that spirit, I'll leave most of what you said alone, regardless of my feelings on the subject. However, I can't resist responding to the one about God being "all forgiving". He'll only forgive you if you repent, and I don't think there's any guarantee that he'd forgive Satan if he managed to repent for all the evil he's done over the years.
I have to laugh at the "stupid" thing, though - that is funny. :D

Liberal Christian. I made it up.
I tok a test and it said I was an Orthodox Quaker. Which means I don't have to go to war....hmmm?
Anyways, I think it's fine for people to believe in what they do. I may think that they are "wrong", but it doesn't make them les of a person.
Although Aeitheists can really piss me off. They want people to respect their belive in nothing, yet thye refuse to accept people who believe in something...is that a double standard? It might be.
Example: An Aeitheist in my school (one child's parent) complained about the HOLIDAY concert because they were singing songs that had to do with Christmas and Haunnaka. Well that's fine, but what about the people who DO believe in and celebrate those holidays? Why should we not have a concert because ONE aethiest is offended?
It's a bit roundabout in its logic, but I can't really express it.
And not to be a jerk, but how is Aeitheism a religion? It's really a lack thereof, more belief? I'm not trying to start a fight, don't get me wrong. Like I said, no hard feelings twoards other religions and beliefs.
I think we should all just try to get along in this world, because we're going to end up totally annihilating each other if we don't. Just a thought.

haha thats true kantes, but anyways aethiesm is different then no religion if u think about it, becuz being an aethiest is the belief that god doesnt exist, and with no religion, religion doesn't effect ur life at all, or u could say that you have never thought about it.

Kantes is right, Atheism isn't a religion. A religion must be based on faith, Atheism is the lack of faith.
I believe most people are secretly Atheists, and are just to afraid to admit it. Really, there are millions of people who call themselves Christians, but have never even read the bible. How can you choose your faith when you don't even know all the details?
Anyways I'm happy as an Atheist. I don't mind people who believe in gods, though I will always think you're ignorant (most likely I think you're an idiot anyways), but I do mind when people try to control others, or gain power using fear of said gods. I also don't like people who are just stupid and gullible. Believing in gods is good and fine, but that doesn't give you an excuse to pay someone 100$ so you can speak to your dead cat.
Finally I hate when people think their faith gives them permission to rewrite or edit science. When will people learn that science and faith do not mix. Faith is metaphysical, science is physical. Faith can never be used to disprove science, and science can never be used to disprove faith. The difference between the two, is that science can prove itself, faith cannot.
I can prove that dinosaurs lived before humans were "made", you will never be able to prove that a man named Jesus was the son of a god. Hence the faith part.

"Really, there are millions of people who call themselves Christians, but have never even read the bible"
Hahah if they read it they wont call themselves christians anymore, buuuuuuurn
But seriously there are toooo many loopholes
In religions eye (well christians)
God made everything he is great blah blah blah
Who made god? why is god there?
In sciences eye
Atoms rubbed off each other leading to the Big bang (i think thats how it happened?)
Where did the atoms come from, they couldn't just be there
You see my point?
My stage in life is i dont know what to believe, one person says one thing, another says another, none of it makes sense, but why waste time questioning the meaning of life, afterall you only live once (or do you..)
While i dont fear dying, i do fear that when i die i will be thrown into eternal darkness.... one thing i really dont want (not that i fear the dark) but as that girl from peter pan said lol "forever is an awfully long time"
