lol - I always have to laugh when I see someone do this. Trust me, tinkle - no owner on any boards will make you a mod if you post a thread asking to be one. Try PMing a known mod and ask them if they're interested.

I want to keep mods to a minimal at this point. When mods start complaining about not having enough help to mod, or if I think we have enough members posting at a given time I will probably make a post about wanting mods, or the current mods will decide on new mods.

I agree with John and Wolfman, but seriously - when will people learn? Don't go on a forum and say "I want be mod!" First, poor grammar's not going to get you very far, and second, this is the kind of thing you should PM the site administrator over, not post on the forum! You're just setting yourself up to look like an idiot this way. No offense, Xfreaky - not saying you actually are an idiot, just that a request like this can easily make you look like one.

If only people could see the sarcasm in my latest post. I was once a mod, it's nothing special to me, I was clearly stating that. ;)

"Think before you speak?" There was no sarcasm apparent in your post, and there was no reason to think that your poor grammar was anything but the way you normally speak. Probably my only gripe about the web is that there's no way to put tone of voice into text other than smilies.

As far as what's happened... we always hammered newbies who said dumb things! I know from what you're saying now that you were on the old site, but you looked like a n00b at the time. Plus, I'm the old guy on the forums. I have to be a curmudgeon every once in a while or people will think I actually have a sense of humor. :)

I'm a Mod on another site and it's pretty cool, but the only reason why people want to be Mods is because they want to feel important and want to be an authority figure. Hell, that's the only reason why I would like to be a Mod. Not so much here, but any forum I visit. :)

Argh - this just keeps getting worse. I'm not saying I'm all that - people asking to be mods out in a forum thread is just a pet peeve of mine, and although other people may have picked up on it, I didn't see anything in his post that indicated sarcasm. We've cleared it up now, I think.

I know no one's asking, but since motivations came up, I didn't get on staff here to feel authority (I hate being in charge of stuff). I just saw that the old site had some great info, and some people on staff who really wanted to move into gaming journalism, but some of that great info didn't look as great as it really was because of spelling and grammar problems. I have experience editing things and writing documentation, so I offered to help out... just to be helpful. John took me up on my offer after seeing that I really did know what I was talking about, and the rest is history.

Basically what I'm saying here is that I've posted myself into a pretty deep hole and I feel like I'm coming across as a jerk, but I'm really not one. The whole reason I work on this site is because I like to help people, and I thought that editing people's reviews/articles/whatever might help them out in their ambitions to get paying jobs doing this stuff.

I think what Tucker is basically trying to say is that you shouldn't want to be a mod just to be respected or what not. You should do it to help others on the forums, *or to tell them that they're idiots and should leave now or die!* (*jk*) Anyway, John had a good idea back there.
