Two hundred bucks is the latest estimate, I thought that was a bit steep but then if you think about it, they expect the PSP to cost even more.
Anyway, if this price keeps the same will it have any impact on whether you buy it or not. For me no, and chances are it'll cost even more than that in NZ :banghead:

I'm buying it, although if it goes over $250, then it might take me a bit longer. There's no way I'm going to buy mine in New Zealand, it's way too expensive.

I'm getting mine whenever Nintendo releases it. That' if Nintendo is going to release a date anytime soon. Ebgames, Gamestop, and Walmart all have November 29 (Well, WalMart has November 30) so, I expect that that might be correct. I'm not so sure about the pricing though.

Only retailers have announced the above date n' price. Though I somehow doubt they're wrong. It's odd for 4 independant retailers to have exactly the same details.

I'm gonna get it no matter what. I might wait for the price drop though ^_^

$200 is okay because the GBA was around that price when it came out years ago.

I'm getting it for christmas so I don't particularly care if it's $200, although I would prefer it be between $150-180. I'm more worried about how much games will cost. I'm hoping $30, but 40 wouldn't be too bad. This is US by the way, I don't know about currnency for you guys in Australia and NZ.

$150-180 sounds about right

I will not buy it if it's $200. The reason is because I've lost most interest in handheld units and if i were to get this I wouldn't want to spend that much.

or just wait about a year for a better, cheaper version to some out. It'll make your coffee and take out your trash and be your best friend, for $100 less.

Only $149.99, quite a lot better than before. Might make me consider importing.

I'm going to buy it. $149.99 is a good price. Now just need some games to come out at the same time or soon after.

How much would it be in NZ currency? Maybe around $250.
Daniel-NE

About $NZ225. But I wouldn't be surprised if they round that up to 250.

Well my mom works at wal-mart, so I get a 10% discount if I buy it there, so I'm getting it for $136 (plus tax). I'm also going to be ebaying some.
I think I'll purchase one. Doubt it'll be at launch, sadly.

About $NZ225. But I wouldn't be surprised if they round that up to 250.Well, I went into a couple of video game shops, they said to expect a price in NZ at about $250. So importing is defiantly cheaper. The only thing that may kill it is the adapter so we can charge it up in NZ. How much do you think they'd cost? I know Liksang used to give away free adapters to people in europe if they imported a special america-or nintendo SP :)

Most electronic stores like Dick Smith, Bond n Bond etc. should sell power converters. I don't know the exact details since I've never used/bought one but they'll fix the conversion problems. I don't think they're too expensive either, so if you're interested you should go in and ask somewhere.

There is a electronic store called Dick Smith? that is hilairous! Anyways I don't plan on buying it now, might in a year when it is down to $70.
Daniel-NE

Lol, well its Dick Smith Electronics. Though lately they've wised up to the barrage of jokes and now a lot of the time they use the acronym DSE.

They sure do--> www.dse.com.au
I'll import mine 100% sure. As for the converter thing, it will be pretty cheap as the numver of volts & watts needed should be quite small.

liksang is serving me well, so I'll get it from there. Now, which game.... @_@ as of now, getting mario 64 DS, but wondering if I should beg my parents for ping pals as well...
slimscane
10-24-2004, 02:47 PM
it comes built in with pictochat, why would you want ping pals? I would go for Mario, it is an actuall game =P. I am going to try to get one at launch (because my parents wont get it for me at Christmas :(), but i am going to need some more cash inflow, i.e. I have the money but I am really miserly and don't wont to spend it unless more is coming to replace that which i spend.
Windmill
10-24-2004, 09:02 PM
But pingpals just looks so cool ^_^ Ah well.... my friend is getting it.... maybe I'll just hook up to her one via internet and use it ;)
Well, I'm getting mine for christmas ^-^ so I don't need to worry about money too much. Actually, I sorta do, 'cos my mum is never gonna pay $300 (I'm just making an estimate on what super mario 64DS + DS with shipping will cost, possibly more) so, I'm selling my gameboy advance, and hoping to make at least $100 off its sale.
Just a quick note, how much do you think I could get for a gameboy advance thats that see-through purple that comes with a link cable to the gamecube, a link cable to another gameboy advance, a battery thing so that you can hook it up to the cars power while driving, a light/magnifier, golden sun, the legend of Zelda NES game (not available in NZ) Spyro season of ice, pokemon sapphire, the legend of zelda seasons and ages on one cartridge (man, I'm going to miss that game so much. If they DS could've played gameboy colour games I'd have never sold it) tony hawks pro skater 3, the legend of zelda a link to the past (+four swords), and legend of zelda carry case for all this stuff with one catch: The battery cover to my gameboy advance no longer clips on as a little bit of a hatch broke off, but I'd give them the case so that they could maybe make so with it... eg: cellotape. I'd stick this on trademe, so how much? Do you think I could round up $100? I wish I could, 'cos then I'd be able to get the DS for sure. (and maybe something else ;))
Daniel-NE
10-24-2004, 09:42 PM
Well you should be able to get more than 100 bucks for all that
1 GBA -
3 Peripherals -
7-8 Games -
I'd have a look on trademe and the like to see what other people are selling similar quantities for but I reckon you could get at about 220+ bucks for it all. But like I said, have a look around first but 100 is way too low.
Windmill
10-24-2004, 09:45 PM
(don't forget the battery cover missing) but yeah, $220 eh? Well, what I meant was I was HOPING for 100 to cover myself, and anything extra would be sweet ^-^ and if I could get $220 I'd be so majorly happy! :D
Daniel-NE
10-25-2004, 02:27 AM
Well if you do it right you could be able to get more than that. What I just did was add it all up to aproximately what it'd cost new, divided it by a 3rd and then took a little bit more off. But if it was me I wouldn't sell it for anything under 220, I reckon you may be able to get a bit more but I dunno, I haven't sold anything in a long time and I don't know what things are worth second hand these days. But what most stores do if you sell them stuff they'll give you a 1/3rd of the normal retail price, depending on condition, availibility etc.

I wanna get a phone. Hmm, I might import when my parents gimme the money for Christmas.

Well that was rather off topic now wasn't it.
Luke-NE
10-25-2004, 07:47 PM
No, I said I wanna get a phone, but I might import the DS. Now that might has turned into a 100% sure, since I will use my own money and my parents will give me money for Christmas, so it can replace the money I spent :)
Daniel-NE

free calls? wow...that would be a nice addition.
Daniel-NE
10-26-2004, 04:22 AM
I'm still a bit uncertain about the whole cellphoney thing. It can only be used at certain hotspots and seriously, you'd look like a retard talking into the DS, it'd be worse than the N-Gage, and that's bad... very bad
nayrk
10-26-2004, 07:54 AM
^hey if you can pay a person 1 dollar to go streaking through the mod i don't think talking into it would be that big of a problem. Although more ackward to carry around thats for sure w/a head set thingy.
Windmill
10-26-2004, 08:02 AM
XD That'll be the day, when you talk into a DS.
No, but seriously, they said use a headset, thats a little different. I don't think I'll be taking advantage of that though much, nor am I guessing they'll even set them up in NZ
Daniel-NE
10-26-2004, 08:17 AM
Headsets look even weirder, I've talked into them a couple of times and it just doesn't feel right. Plus if they're small and concealed people think you're crazy.
Windmill
10-26-2004, 07:32 PM
Ah well. I don't care too much about what people think, as long as its cheap ;) but yeah, I don't think that option will even be in NZ, so we've got no worries.
Daniel-NE
10-27-2004, 05:00 AM
There's a high chance they will. Because while the GameCube may be doing not so well here the GBA is having excellent sales. With the DS more or less being the new Game Boy it should take a large stake of the market. So if it does I wouldn't be suprised.
Luke-NE
10-27-2004, 05:30 AM
