I was just wondering if you needed the full verions of BF: 1942 to play the desert combat mod? I really want to play that mod but I don't have that game.

Yep. Go buy Battlefield 1942. Its only like $10-$20 now.
The fact that you didn't know that worries me though. Might want to find out if your PC can handle it first.

p4 3gig 1gig of RAM ATI Radeon 9800 pro. Can that handle it? Im kinda new to computer gaming. I just got UT2K4 and Battlefield Vietnam

Obviously, your specs are fine. As for why you'd want to buy BF 1942 when you already own Vietnam, I have no idea. They're essentially the same game in different settings, but Vietnam offers the better graphical presentation and a more balanced infantry experience. BF 1942 relied too heavily on vehicles to succeed, but it is still one of my favorite PC games of all-time. For $20, it's a good buy, but you already have the best all-around version of the game.
