Nah if we are going to play Counter-Strike, I would prefer to play over Steam to weed out the hackers and cheaters. I only play on CS 1.5 with small groups of friends at LANs when I know none of them are going to cheat.

Steam is completely free, but everyone needs a unique CD to activate their Steam account. Go buy Half-Life alone for like $10 and then you'll be all set.

man i already said you can get steam for free at www.steampowered.net if you own a copy of half-life otherwise in order to play Half-Life on steam you have to go buy Half-Life its not that hard to understand.

if you have HL Counter-Strike is free along with all other Half-Life mods. If you get steam it gives you HL DeathMatch, DM Classic, TFC, Day of Defeat, OpFor DM, Ricochet, and Codename: Gordon with it.

oh and about 8Ball bitching about steam. Have you been on it recently? it could be better but it beats out the old WON servers which are slowly fading because Sierra is shutting them down. Besides CS 1.5 blows nuts.

I believe there is a way to recover your account as long as you have your Half-Life CD key. Thats how I recovered mine. You put in your Half-Life CD key and it searches through the database for your username and password.

The reason I don't like Steam is because it runs like SHIT on my computer, half of the stuff on it doesn't work, and the last time I did play on Steam was last week. I prefer CS 1.5 because the gameplay feels a lot more fluid to me. Plus, I've played CS 1.5 ever since it came out, I first started playing CS back in the beta versions, and I hardly ever see hackers anymore. Sure, some come around ever-so-often, and you may get BS'ed a lot of times, but most of the players are just that good.

yeah reminds me the first day i got my alienware, i spent like 30 minutes installing all the games and then another hour or 2 trying to get the patches (fileplanet sucks)

Really? I wasn't impressed with BF1942 or Desert Combat. The graphcis I felt were lacking for the time the game was made and textures made the characters feel cartoonish compaired to games like Ghost Recon, and America's Army. While Joint Ops was more improved with better graphics, better use of viehicle (you can actually shoot out of them) easier to use air vehicles (and harder to fall out of them when your not sitting in a seat). Also you could actually put Vehicles inside other vehicles, I know BF Vietnam did this but still the air vehicles were extremely hard to control without a joystick.
