If you were to ask any gamer as to what job they would consider as the “Most Tops-As In The World, Chief”, then they would probably say “Videogame Journalist”. As for us, we’d have to say “Face Puncher Of Justin Timberlake” but that’s another matter altogether. We’re seeing a therapist about that.
Gamesindustry.biz has an interesting opinion on the direction of the specialist gaming magazine. It theorises that the increase in coverage of games in more mainstream publications, as well as the increasing quality of Internet fan-sites could have a major negative impacts on the videogame mag industry.
Whilst this could be seen as a compliment to those people who slave for hours over their keyboards to maintain their little corners of the net, it does concern us that this could be detrimental to those who wish to write about games, but actually make MONEY doing so. If there are no magazines to write for, whatever will we do??
We can’t keep selling our first-borns for income for much longer. We’re sure there are laws.
(News like this will be up on XE when it launches… when…)
