I've had this router about a year and have played xbox live with it for that year. I recently moved to a different room in my house, now when I attempt to hook it up my computer will not connect and my xbox will be able to connect, but if I do a direct link I'm able to connect to the internet or to xbox live.

This is what I have done:

Turned off computer.
Unplugged modem, router, and all cables
After a wait about 5 minutes I plug in my modem and wait for it to blink rdy
I then turn on my router and stick the modem cable into the WAN slot.
After that I plug in my 2 other cables into the 1st and 2nd slot.
Turn on my computer and then I cannot get on the internet even though my computer says I have connection.

My router is D-Link 604 with 2.18

It worked for me before and it has to be my router that is messing up because I can direct link with my modem and I've checked all of the cables.

Only thing I can think of is my computer is not automatically configuring my internet through the router, but my xbox is automatically configuring. So how do I confirm that my computer is automatically configuring? I'm such a noob when it comes to routers and connection setup.

Actually a lot of the new wireless phones interfere with Wi-Fi transmissions, do you have one? Because maybe when you moved to the other room it interefered with the phone transmissions.

No I know it isnt that.

It isnt a wireless router.

I've tried everything I know when it comes to this.

I've tried to reset the router manually.
I've tried to Run, cmd and I ipconfig/release then I ipconfig/renew and that didnt do anything.
I've tried to repair the connection in network settings and that did nothing.

It's been 3 days now and I still cannot firgure out what the hell happened to it.

Access your router (192.168.0.1) and see if you are limiting the number of IP addresses or filtering anything.

I cannot access my router either. If it is possible then I would get a save box to pop up when I type http://192.168.0.1

I have a guy in the xbox forums who is supposed to be the big guru at routers and I have him stumped. This is what he gave me to try today but I havent gotten to it yet.

Well a while back Comcast had a problem with their service, and accidently issued multiple IP addresses to their customers, and this sounds like the problem you may be having.

So this should solve your problem:
1. Click "Start"
2. Click "Run"
3. Type "cmd"
4. Type "ipconfig/all"
5. Copy the following information onto a piece of paper
IP address
DNS addresses
Subnet Mask
Default Gateway
Physical Address (including the dashes)

6. Click "Start"
7. Click "Control Panel"
8. Double click "Network Connections"
9. Double click the connection you are using
10. Click "Properties"
11. Click "TCP/IP (Internet Protocol)"
12. Click "Properties"
13. Click "Use the following IP address" this will require you to use assigned DNS address as well
14. Enter this information where applicable;

IP addresss: 192.168.0.101
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
Primary DNS: 192.168.0.1

15. Power off your computer
16. Power off your Xbox
17. Power off your modem
18. Connect your modem to the 'WAN' port on your router
19. Connect your Xbox to the 1st 'LAN' port on your router
20. Connect your computer to the 2nd 'LAN' port on your router
21. Power on your modem, and wait for it to finish turning on then continue
22. Power on your router
23. Now you should at least be able to connect to your router by clicking here
24. Username is "admin", there is no password
25. Now click the "Wan" button
26. Click "Dynamic IP address"
27. Enter the DNS adresses, and the "Physical Address" into the "MAC address" area
28. Click "Apply"

Now hopefully you'll be able to connect, if not use "Static IP" instead and enter all of the information I had you copy down eariler.

This was after he tried helping me about 10 different times and this was his final attempt and solution.
